A record 420 runners joined yesterday's Milton Keynes parkrun - that's what "terror" does to runners (insert raspberry blowing sound here). Terrorism ... to engender terror by acts of violence. Courage ... to carry on in the face of terror.

There were lots of volunteers yesterday: big thanks to them. Several of them were "resting" before today's London Marathon. parkrun wouldn't take place without all the volunteers, and runners are asked to volunteer at least three times a year. I'll be volunteering after I've done the thirty runs I've set myself in order to raise money and awareness of my charity World Vision.

I was determined to shave off 4 seconds from last weeks pb of 36:03. I didn't.

I shaved off waaaay more at 35:19. My chant when I need to keep myself running is World Vision UK's motto "for children, for change, for good". Yesterday, I amended that slightly and chanted "for children, for BOSTON, for good". It definitely worked.

I put everything I had into my sprint finish, and ran past people sounding very strange as I dragged the air into my lungs.

Then, as we're queuing up to hand in our time tags, this lot swan in and join the finish line. Wait your turn, cob! (Cob ... definition - male swan)

    Now for my AF report...

21/30 AFDs. Went to dinner with DH's family. A very rare occasion. It's well over a year since we've seen any of them, they're all terrible at keeping in touch with each other. Unlike my family, who FB, Skype, phone and visit regularly. It seems like they all read my FB entries though, and knew about my running - although they did think I was doing today's London Marathon (nope, but who knows what the future holds).

Of the 8 adults present, only 4 were drinking, so there was definitely no pressure.

Oh, 41, hugs for you give-a-hug.jpg, but don't feel ashamed, just use it as a lesson learned. Perhaps a jug of water to re-hydrate yourself when dancing? I love dancing.

Hi all, well we are all moved in now :D

Just a few bags of clothes to sort but we've been on our feet since yesterday so we're tired and chilling now.

20 AFDs for me please Shaggy, would have liked to have toasted our new home with a glass of something but I think maybe I will leave that until I feel more confident that I can have one and that's it :o

Only thing about the new home is...no hot water lol! Landlord sounds lovely though so hopefully we're going to get it sorted tomorrow. Bloomin' typical eh? :o

Our cat is gradually working his way through the house, having a sniff round. The Feliway plug-in I bought seems to be keeping him calm.

I could do with a week off now to recover from the move, hope everyone has had a nice weekend :) xx
  • Thanks satchmo, I am still hungover. Will not be drinking today for sure. I have got it out of my system, having a drink I mean, and I think if I just keep it for the special occasion or night out it is a better plan than what I was doing which was drinking at home most nights. I feel ill and don't like it, also spent loads of money and still I can say that when I ate the chinese and drank tap water, I had a better time than when I was drinking lager and dancing. So, 18 AF/30.

    Hello
Well after tucking myself under the duvet to escape the call of the wine on Friday night I managed an AF evening. Hooray.

I then went to a football match and a 50th birthday party in Portsmouth. I didn't follow my intention of only having a soft drink to kick off with (s'cuse the pun) but I did only have a half a beer before the match. I then had one glass of wine afterwards in the next pub.

We were going to get a taxi to the party from the hotel and back at the end of the night until we found out how much it cost! Nothing like it for making you drive and drink lime and soda. Not a drop passed my lips for the rest of the night.

When I woke up this morning and felt full of bounce I knew it was the best thing to do. Stuffed my face at the buffet breakfast as I wasn't feeling sick with a headache and have been for a run this afternoon. This cutting down business is the business! What joy I discovered this thread!

41 and I know it - good luck with the h'over. I crawl under the covers and take huge numbers of pills in your situation so you are doing really well.

Barny1979 - sorry to hear about your miserable week. I always end up at the bottom of a bottle in those circumstances so you are a bit of a champ resisting. Great news on the cricket. My family were addicted to cricket when I was a kid and it is such a civilised way to pass your time.

Lilith1980 - congrats on the new home. How lovely to be in there and unpacking. Hope the cat is still happy.

Satchmo1 - well done on the running. Don't think I'm quite at your level, I sort of trot rather than run. At least its faster than walking. (just)

I am now on 2AF days and hope to add another tonight.

    Happy Sunday

    Kind regards
    Slowdown:)

    Morning :hello:

I have a week off to do some decorating th_smiley_paint.gif so I'll be popping in and out at odd times. I wasn't AF yesterday - had about 4 units.

EDIT I HAVE UPDATED #1670 WITH THE RECENT AFDs
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Tonight will be AF for sure, its just so hard getting that first AF day again after being on it at the weekend.

Shaggy -Declaring tonights early, can you add another AF on to my total, bringing me up to 11AFD's

Lilith - Hope all went well with the move & wasnt too stressful, enjoy your new home :D
