Thanks for the support maman. I really hope it is the case that my tolerance will go down and I won't actually be able to consume as much alcohol. And as my DH has just reminded me -no midweek drinking. That should help too. And well done on the lunch time drinks. They are a real killer and I too would have been asleep in the afternoon.

I clocked AF days on Monday and Tuesday (I had a stomach bug which meant I drank water all day)which now makes 5/8 AF days. This would definitely not be the case if I had not found this thread!

I am going out to dinner tonight with a friend and have told her I will drive to hers as it will stop me being tempted. Usually it would have been her turn to come here but I am safeguarding myself.

    Good luck to everyone today.

    Kind regards
    Slowdown:)

    Morning

My lovely Dad died last night - I drank about 6 units. I know it probably seems nuts that I'm posting this but I want to keep posting on here 'cos I'm really going to need you guys to stop me diving into a pool of alcohol...so I will be popping in and out to count up the AFDs 'cos I need to not drown my sorrows too much. When my Mum died I drank too much....

    A very sad

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Oh Shaggy, how sad. Hugs and condolences for you. Please don't try alcohol obliteration, you probably found that it didn't really obliterate anything when you dived into the alcohol pool after your mum died. You just end up with the grief and a hangover.

    23/30 for me so far.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

So sad for you..I lost my Dad 15 months ago and my lovely former MIL last month.

Staying strong isn't easy but there's lots of support here.

Take care of yourself over the next few days - it's easy to forget your needs while trying to think of everybody else's!

Shaggy, so sorry to hear your news - to be honest, you did brilliantly in only having 6 units

Keep logging your units to help you, we are always here to listen

When my dad died a few years back, we drank all of his home brew he had made for Xmas, he would have liked it - so we told ourselves

10 AF please, but feel free to have a break from posting our AF days

    Hugs, Tracy x

So sorry to hear your sad news Shaggy. I don't think you're mad to be posting today. It'll help you keep your drinking under careful control and we all need our friends at times like this. And that applies to virtual friends too!:A
  • Shaggy, I am so sorry to hear of your bereavement, I worship my dad too and I know I would be devastated if anything happened to him. There is nothing I can say. Please look after yourself and don't worry about counting the AF days, that is not important, but YOU are.
Lots of love and sending you my thoughts and prayers for you and your mum, Tina xxx RIP

24/30 AFDs for me. I've got a rotten cold, so I took the day off and have spent most of the day promoting a colleague's charitable head-shave on Facebook and Twitter. She has so far raised £2105 of a £5k target. https://www.justgiving.com/headshave4alex/
