Well said Maman, being in control is the key. Something I am not very good at. I make promises to myself that I can't keep, set unrealistic targets and then give up because I've 'failed'.

But being TF means if I do have a wobble I won't have failed, just delayed my success (if that makes sense?).

Thanks for the chanting Imagnu, worked a treat and I now have :j5 AFD's :j under my belt. Happy days.

I am going away this weekend and haven't decided whether I will be AF yet, but whatever I decide, I still have my 5 AFD's to add to when I get back.

Have a good weekend everyone and I will be back on Monday. x
Today is a new day and I'm gonna make it a good one. :)

Thanks for the advice maman and New Day.

Planning ahead for the AF days is a good idea and I have marked some off on the calendar which are manageable. I think tonight I will be ok not drinking if I allow myself one tomorrow. But again the problem is the regulation when I have started. I am going to give it my best shot at being responsible and I think I'll do as suggested and mix with soft drinks, something I know I never would usually consider.

Well I am at 1 down and 7 to go before the 31st.
Good luck to you all for the weekend.

    Kind regards

I used to be a big gin fan (and still am), having tried many many distiller's brands over the past 8 years or so.. I have switched to drinking low calorie tonic from Tesco as it has enough of a reminder of the taste to be enjoyable. Love it.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Try and have your first drink as late as possible - have a soft drink on the first round - or order a drink plus a water - and sip, sip, sip not gulp, gulp, gulp :D - make sure you always have water or a soft drink to drink from as well as a glass of alcohol and remember this 3225255407_596aa5bdff_m.jpg

...have a plan...at least if it goes wrong you will know why and can maybe change something next time..

    Hope that helps...

  • Hi everybody! Well well loads of lovely lovely posts, I had enjoyed reading them all. Couldn't find the thanks button and thought I'd thanked them all by mistake, then I realised I had been logged out when I went in the bath when I tried to reply lol.
Anyhow, I am also supposed to be going out tomorrow night for a 50th birthday chinese meal and I'm bricking it, I want to drive, but I know I will be miserable when I look at everyone else drinking. But if I drink I know it will be hard to stop.
Had blood test results back an hour or so ago, anti-thyroid antibodies in my blood so I will probably be hypothyroid in a year or so, hey ho. Waiting for the throat scan and carrying on with the anti-depressants and calcium supplements as my calcium is still low.
I am so full of pepsi I could burst, my own fault, can't even control my soft drinking lol. 17 AF days as defo AF tonight.

Thanks for adding me to the list Shaggy.

You had a good idea there, having a soft drink on the first round. It will definitely delay things and I will make sure I have water or a softie with me all night. And sip sip not gulp gulp. Definitely not used to doing that.

Also thanks to the Boss for the G 'n' T tip. I also love this but err too heavily on the gin side. I am going to tip the whole tonic in the glass in future and not make one bottle last two drinks.

I am currently (7pm) sat under the duvet upstairs to stop me watching TV. If I do that I will find myself reaching for the vino and telling myself that I had a night off yesterday so its ok. I promised myself I would not drink tonight so am employing other tactics. Already spent time irritating my teenagers and feeding the birds to occupy myself. Now as far away from the bottle as possible but it is still calling me. (I shall stick my fingers in my ears!) I might go and finish sewing a cushion I started just to keep my hands busy.

I am amazed how much time I am spending thinking about alcohol. In the supermarket this afternoon I just bought 2 bottles of ale for OH and put nothing in for myself. We have quite a cupboard full and I do like a real ale but I didn't buy my favourite Honey Dew as I know I would not have been able to resist.

Hey Ho, here we go. Sewing or something.
    Kind regards
