Went to an awards evening with work last night and managed to just drink coke and water. 23 AFDs so far.
  • Hi Barney well done on going to a do and remaining AF, I am so glad you are posting here. I joined Slimming World last night and my first weigh in was 14 stones and 7 pounds. I am going to lose weight and alcohol is not going to stop me. I used to be skinny when I drank but that doesn't mean I was healthy it means that it means that, there is no logic, but its gone and now I want to be not obese according to my BMI and I want to be able to enjoy myself minus the alcohol. I went overboard on Saturday night and I can still remenber the hangover, it was horrendous. I hate hangovers, I saw a photo on facebook of me and I look huge and I don't want other people to sum me up as:
    1. 42 in August.
    2. Mum of 6 and 8 year old children.
    3. On sick with depression.
    4. In abusive relationship for 10 years in August.
    5. In photos of me out holding a pint of lager with a really stupid grin on my face and looking like mutton dressed as lamb, drinking cos I feel so ugly and huge.
    6. Someone who can't achieve anything.

has anyone seen my willpower? I have slipped back to old ways, making easy excuses to nip out to the supermarket in the evening and buying wine. I wish the shops still shut at 6 in the evening.

Shaggy, <<<hugs>>> if you need them, or for sharing with those that need support.

I too have been feeling like that this week, think as I don't sleep when DH is nightshift, last night was not AF so 11AFD's not 12 :o ( I didn't buy wine) someone left me it for altering a few pairs of curtains

can I suggest having a good soak in the bath, putting PJs on and telling yourself you're not going out until next morning.

That made me :rotfl: (is it you Imagnu) :D:rotfl:

Come & join us on the SW support thread, myself & maman are on it. You have a way with words, and your post for Shaggy was lovely. I am rubbish with words but on your list, you can score the first 2 off, you are 42 in August & you dohave 2 children. You cannot change that.

I too was in an abusive relationship years ago & it scarred me mentally for a long long time, this was worse than the physical abuse he put me through. I thought so little of myself but I eventually broke free, & in time got my friends & fmily back. Obviously I don't know your situation with your partner so can't comment too much, you are stronger than you realise as you decided to get up off your bum & stop drinking & you decided to do something about your excess weight so don't beat yourself up, this sounds daft but from your posts & kind words to others you sound like a lovely person, someone I would be proud to call my Friend (I am 41 in October with 11 & 6 year olds & NOT now in an abusive relationship) so we are similar in some ways & I do slimming world :D. Hope you feel better soon, sending you virtual hugs xxx

    Everyone Welcome.
28 out of 31 days for me in May :)
  • Oh macpep what a lovely thing to say, you really touched my heart.
I have never been physically abused, withdrawing sex as a weapon to hurt (2 years or more), bullying, shouting, making me physically neglect myself, making me eat fatty food by blackmail, mind games, no help with the kids etc etc is his way, no fists kicks, just mental torture and no support, love no affection shown and his control 24 hours a day.

Hi all, just got back from a week's holiday with the kids. Had an amazing time and feeling like we had a break, not a rest, but certainly a break from everything.

I did really well alcohol wise, drank 3 of the 8 days and only 5 units in total, drunk in 2:1:2. So you can see it was hardly worth bothering with. Therefore that makes me 23/24 AF. Tomorrow I hit my target and I will do as I am the designated driver, so no temptation there.

Oh and Shaggy I am gonna jump in first and set my May target for 24 again, I wanted to say 25, but i'll aim for that instead. Maybe in June i'll increase again.

Right hope everyone is ok and I'm off back to read 10+ pages.

    Morning

My lovely Dad died last night - I drank about 6 units. I know it probably seems nuts that I'm posting this but I want to keep posting on here 'cos I'm really going to need you guys to stop me diving into a pool of alcohol...so I will be popping in and out to count up the AFDs 'cos I need to not drown my sorrows too much. When my Mum died I drank too much....

    A very sad

    Shaggyx

Ohh shaggy, I am soooosoooo sorry to read this, I hope you are ok. I don't really know what to say. Super large big hugs to you my dear. :(
