problem with Britannia hotel

  • We stayed at the Britannia in Stafford after accidentally booking due to being led to believe it was at alton towers!! Hah I live the same distance in the opposite direction! At about 11.30pm we heard dripping and turned the light on to find the ceiling leaking at the bottom of my sons bed. The response from reception? ' well there's no other rooms' (and I couldn't care less was the attitude!) so we went home. The manager promised me a refund for the room but not the theme park tickets which was far enough, however, despite me calling several times nothing happened and he never called me again. In December I did a chargeback through my credit card who have currently refunded my money. Just waiting to see if Britannia dispute anything but will never stay in one of their hotels again as there were also other problems

No, it was called Britannia. They laughingly called it an airport hotel but it was miles from the airport - closer to Stockport to tell the truth.

I am familiar with the Britannia Stockport. Its on Dialstone lane. I have posted a report on a relatives experience on trip advisor. To say that i couldnt recommend it would be charitable.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Haha, the hotel is just round the corner from a weatherspoons pub (or possibly a Yates) so i'll probably go there instead for an evening meal and forgo the pleasure of their inclusive breakfast entirely.

Ive never known a hotel that serves tea and coffee that is actually barely drinkable
The only Yates' I know of was on High Street, opposite the Coventry Building Society, and that closed down last year and has been replaced by a Spar store.

The pub I am thinking of is near the motor museum about a 5 minute walk from the Britannia Coventry. They were refurbishing it last time I went and I was sure it was part of one of the chains. There was also a tiny little Sainsburys on that corner as well so if I get desperate ill buy prepared salad or something from there.

  • Not often you hear such unified condemnation!

Amazes me how companies like this stay in business.

Plenty of first time customers. Trip Advisor is pretty accurate on this chain. You have to ask why they get so many negative reviews.

I bet they get little if any repeat business. I for one would never book a Britannia Hotel ever again. Where as with Travelodge, Premier Inn or Double Tree by Hilton I would not think twice about using them again.

Sasha's in Manchester could actually be a pretty good hotel if Britannia bothered spending some money on it.

The closest hotel to Towers (other than the extortionate official Hotel) is probably The Weathervane, it's about 12 miles away from the park itself.

Other than that with AT being in a village you are stuck with expensive local B&B's.
They have just submitted planning for a Holiday Village of chalet type accommodation actually, much to local B&B owners annoyance.

Both Manchester City centre hotels are in notable buildings but which are now in anappalling state.

The Portland Street hotel was featured on the very first episode of Michael Portillo's Great British Railway Journeys programme. Sadly, you can't even see through the first floor windows now for the layer of muck and grime. They've certainly not been cleaned in the 11 years I've lived in the Manchester area. I been in the resident's area of Sachas only once. The carpet was so dirty it stuck to my shoes.

They also own a historic fire station, but they're letting that fall down rather than come to arrangements to do anything with it. They fought a compulsory purchase order, claiming they had ambitious plans for the site. Then promptly admitted they haven't the money to do the work.
