Hello,
Wondering if you can shed some light on something for me. If a client attends a Review with someone like yourself, and asks to apply for a loan for example, can the member of staff approve the application, or is it a case of "computer says yes or no"
The other question i have is this: If someone previously had a Natwest/RBS curren account but then stopped using it for some time (4 years plus) and then re-applied, would it be flagged up that the person has previously had an account??
Thanks for your input
Mikeyboy
The computer does make the decision. It searches the voters roll for any CCJ's, bankruptcy, etc and also checks your account conductivity (that you have money coming in, don't have lot's of bank charges, etc). Depending on the decision the computer makes though, the member of staff can appeal against the decision by sending it to the lending unit.
If your account was closed or made dormant it would not appear on the application. Although be aware, if the account went into default then it would more than likely show on the application.
Hope this helps.0 -
What sort of 'perks' are there for working in the bank? Do you get better deals of savings and mortgages or can they still be beaten by going to other lenders?0

I KNOW that it is sackable, I KNOW but we all make choices in life and some of us choose to take them
I should also say that sales targets as suggested still exist today BUT surprisingly i will also say i like the job and the challenging and changing environment that exists within the banking world. As with any job, if you hate it ,leave, if you don;t, then get on with it in spite of some of the conditions and expectations that are placed upon you. I have a wealth of information but i think i will guard it for the right time and the right place.
I still believe in the job i am doing and so i could say my gripes but many have done so already. I stay because i still feel more changes are imminent and I want to be part of it.
I agree with what you say. A lot of bank staff complain about sales targets and ongoing pressue, why don't they just leave and save everybody hassle! I love my job and although I am constantly under pressure, I would not change it for the world.0 -

I recentley got hired by RBS (Parent company of NatWest) in SE area of UK. I work in Financial Administration back office for the bank.
BTW im in placement year of uni and turning on permanent contract after graduation.
I primarily allocate payment to natwest branches across the South East region in UK
As countrygirl84 said we get special rates on loans and mortgages. Athough I havent had a liking for debt so havent tried them
However, as RBS Employees we get a YourBank package comprised of value added accounts for free.
I myself have Natwest advantage private account with no monthly fees.:j0 -

because some of us are the main breadwinner & cannot just choose to walk out, some of us haven't the luxury of a high earning hubby
& the prompt system is pants - i swiped a debit card to pay the customers natwest credit card bill & the prompt said to sell him a natwest credit card - I've been in a long long time & no, I won't approach Mrs Smith about a mortgage as prompted as I feel at the age of 82 she wouldn't want one!!
with all the !!!! we have to put up with I'd walk tomorrow if I could but my kids need shoes!0 -
