I dont take a lunch during the busy period, however, people have to eat and are entitled to a lunch break. Are you suggesting that staff should take a lunch break at 3/4pm?
Erm - Yes. Other places enforce this. I used to work in McDonalds, and there was No Way[tm] that anyone was taking a break between 11.30am and 2.30pm on busy days. (Every day of the week in some stores.)
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

    Yes Banker, well HBOS

Jo, we load our own cash in ATM's and balance them

They are looking to have some firm come in at night - but the money is in the safe so unsure what how they are going to do it?

we have staff that specifically work 10.30 until 2.30 to cover the busiest times

fits in with parents flexible working hours too

The money is supplied in bulk to a security carrier (Securicor or Loomis) who come in and fill the machine etc - this is how all the remote machines in supermarkets and train stations are serviced

I've been with Barclays for the last 5 years.

Recently I went into the branch to get a bankers draft for £1700. Upon asking, the lady over the counter said that there's a £10 charge for issueing me with a bankers draft. I expressed my displeasure about that being excessive. Fortunately, her computer slowed down, and I had to wait a few extra minutes at the counter. The cashier apologised for the delay and waived the £10 charge in return :-)

Does that mean the £10 charge on bankers draft is at staff discretion?

Another experience: I deposited a cheque for US$150 into my current account. Due to an error on their part, it took them a month to deposit that money (turned out to be £76) into my account. I complained about this directly to the complaints division. Got a call from them offering me £20 for the inconvinience, which I rejected. Next day they called again and offered me £100 compensation, for what was a cheque worth £76 :-)

LTSB bankers drafts have just increased from £10 to £20 (with no staff discretion unless genuine bank error)

LTSB chaps payments have increased also from £20 (without advice) to £30 (without advice). Add another £5 for advice.

This from the bank who lets ITS India Banking Service customers transfer money to India for free. tut tut.

If you ever need a copy statement or statements they will chg you £5 per sheet maximum chg of £10. All you have to say is you never received the original, we cant prove it and you get it FOC.

Look on the bright side though...at least their credit card default charges have been reduced from circa £30 to only £12. ;)

true churchmouse, but then do you get people moan that they did not hear about the new account offering / rates ect - because they selected no marketing

I select the NO marketing option on everything I sign up to. Much quicker and more accurate to find out about it here on MSE, and with all the flannel taken out :D

I usually dont leave till 5.15 either, however, we arent required to work an extra hour in the morning. I arrive between 8.30 and 8.45 - depending on whether I want to have breakfast at work or if I have an ATM key or not! I get paid for being in early enough to service the ATM.

I vary rarely go into the main Lloyds Branch where I live because it's sooo busy, but last week had occasion to at 11am. 3 ATM's were closed and one was giving out limited amounts only because of re-stocking.
Ended up queing for 22 minutes to wthdraw cash over the counter. Infuriating that they don't do this prior to opening or least on opening rather than waiting til a busy time of the day and to take all four out of action simultaneously !!!
