The government require at least £2.6bn be saved from what is currently being paid out for DLA.
In other words under PIP there will only be £10.4bn available to be paid out. Under DLA £13bn was being paid out.
In fact much more will be paid out so this whole scheme will not save money it will cost money.
So I say again.
What savings?[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Are you still having nothing but bother with ATW jen?
And what happend with regards to your employment issues?
The ATW stuff seems sorted for now but they are taking ages to pay the taxi company. I had a different driver for a few weeks in December and he actually takes a ATW staff member to work and apparently they're really short staffed here in Glasgow as there are people who have been moved/left their post/went on mat leave and not been replaced, hopefully when PIP comes in these problems will be fixed.
As for work, it's a total nightmare just now to be honest. Things haven't been good since the buy over and I'm off sick just now as my new employer is an idiot who won't move his bloody stereo out of the T-loop zone, won't read my sick notes and generally is a total w@nk3r.
I've been interviewed for a job that I really hope to get (same as job just now but huge company with loads of training and development opportunities and the people who interviewed me were lovely), got another 3 interviews lined up plus a fourth that has been promised but not settled on dates yet. Meanwhile my lawyer is trying to get a compromise agreement so that I can leave without working notice and with a wee bit of money for the stress, if they won't release me from my contract it's off to tribunal for discrimination which we're trying to avoid as stress is not good for the graft and we are hoping to get a firm yes or no on wether or not we can start trying for a baby.
I've been told by the local council that I'm too disabled to adopt so if we can't have our own then I need to find a surrogate which is daunting, my sister has offered but she has her own kids to run around after and I don't want her to feel obliged to do it. It's all a bit crazy and we aren't even planning on cooking this baby until the end of next year but things move slowly in the world of transplant recovery.0 -
There wont be any savings, it will simply be paid out elsewhere under a different name.

What savings?
Does it really matter?
The general public want to see a dramatic reduction in the Welfare budget.
If what you are saying actually happens, all the government have to do is restrict the level, in your case, of the ATW amounts that are paid out.
This is as much to do with savings from one particular budget as it is to do with public opinion. Try asking a hard working family if they object to people receiving the same or more in terms of financial support from the Welfare state?
Yesterday I had a long meeting with the County Council Welfare Rights Officer. He calculated that for the two of us, the minimum amount that we are required to live on (means tested) is £399.50 a week. On top of that comes CTB and HB (or in our case, payment of the mortgage interest) of another £70 a week. In addition there are further payments amounting to over £180 a week.
I think that that amount (£680 a week) is disgracefull!
Obviously we have no intention of claiming that amount - but others would.0 -

You don't know my financial circumstances, so don't assume that I can afford to take out a loan. If i wanted to buy my current car of Motability in 2 years time, it would cost between £11,800-£12,000. That may be to exoensive.
I'm still paying of a existing loan which doesn't get paid off till November 2015, so I don't know if I can get another loan anyway.
Of course I object to PIP happening, what do you expect me to be? Dancing to the tunes of music?
Of course you could borrow the money. Your personal financial situation has nothing to do with it. How do you think able bodied people manage?
As for a car, have a look on Autotrader - you can pick something up for a couple of £1000!
If you object to PIP what would you suggest the government do to stem the ever increasing tide of DLA claims and awards?0 -

Oh woe is me. I can't get benefits so nobody else should,:(
It's not about reducing claims, it's about the government removing a percentage of claimants, despite the fact that this help is needed to live a somewhat normal life.
You take away someones means of getting to and from work, what are those people supposed to do.
Reduced income, higher costs to live with their condition, and no means of transport.
The money not spend on DLA/PIP will simply be ploughed into AtW plus a hell of a lot more to cover the additional costs.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

It has already been proven the changes to welfare will not save a penny, they will in fact INCREASE the budget, plus they will increase the budget of other departments as well including the NHS.
The other thing is, people go on and on about Motability and the cars people have. What about the other things Motability offer. Wheelchairs, powered/manual/assisted, mobility scooters, both class 2 and 3.
Those who don't have the ability to pay for these, where else do they get them from? Local Council, NHS, AtW, the cost still comes back to the Government, just not in the name of Welfare, but it's still a cost.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Feeding time again but: rather than sticking the boot into the sick and disabled why not do something about the £50 billion of welfare spending (a third) that goes to people on above average incomes!!0 -
