  • If you use TNT be aware .. if there is any damage you will only be able to make a claim if the parcel is signed for as DAMAGED. When the courier arrives he/she will offer you a pad to sign. Be aware you are then signing for everything received in good condition! Most drivers will not wait whilst you open and examine goods, so TNT have told us that you must sign for as DAMAGED, just in case you find damage later, else they won't process a claim. Some drivers suggest using the term 'unchecked' ... this is meaningless, do not do it. TNT seem to have a very high damage rate. This will actually mean more revenue for them as the goods are usually then returned and later replaced by the supplier (i.e. more shipping!) , subsequently they will do nothing to investigate damage reports as they rarely pay out. Help stop this by signing for all deliveries as DAMAGED ... their paid-out claims will increase and eventually they will do something to reduce damages and actually provide a better service ... more reliable, less packaging required etc ... they may even get more customers!

    Lord deliver us from YODEL.
I too have had some bad experiences with them and others. They say they have been and we have waited in especially and still did not get the goods.
I would like the companies we buy from to give US the choice of carrier. Therein lies the REAL power of the consumer. We pay and so we say!
I find both Royal Mail and ParcelForce good in our area and they will leave a card through the letter box and the failed deliveries at our local post office.
One courier firm expected me to drive 20+miles Trafford Park Manchester to pick up my parcel.
It IS really important to have a reliable delivery service AND competition if we are to make best use of online shopping.

Ah yes, Yodel – what a catastrophic bore they are!
Ordered a gift from M&S online for my then-fiance (now wife) – long story short, we were going on holiday and said item was purchased with the intention of being taken with us.

Following an alleged delivery attempt in which we, supposedly, didn’t bother answering our intercom (we live in an apartment) numerous phone calls and a complaint to the manager of the Yodel depot in question, the item was received the day we were due to leave, delivered by a scruffy, grubby man in a battered scruffy, grubby, white van.

I have just experienced something new, different and mind numbing, courtesy of Yodel. I noticed some of the neighbours further up the road discussing something over a large box but not being particularly nosey I went back indoors. Five minute have past and there’s a knock on the door and a blond lady says “Hello, I’m sure this box must be yours, Yodel dumped it round the back outside No 3 and put this card through No16 to let them know he’d left it round the back of our house but it must be yours because the address is clearly typed No 6” Thank you so much I replied it’s so reassuring to know that my £70- odd quid’s worth of bits was left in a safe place. “You know that firm is absolutely useless” she said, “Some would have sold that lot on the Internet”
Need I say any more; And does it go all the way to the very top of Yodel? Or are they on a different planet.
    As the lady said,
    Absolutely useless.
  • I work for Yodel ,as desperate for work- at christmas they set on so many new temp drivers my work volume dropped to less than 50 parcels per day;you need at least 100 to make a living at parcel delivering, now christmas is over the temp drivers are all back on full time benefits assuming they ever stopped claiming.
  • They are not only bad at delivery they are rubbish at collection as well. I had to return a tablet computer to argos online and they took over a week to arrange the collection, then brought it back to me the next day and took a further week to collect it again. Duuhhh

No mention of CollectPlus. They're not quite the same, I know, because they don't collect - you have to take your parcel to them - but they're inexpensive and pretty good. They're certainly no worse than others I've used, and I think I've used them all (I sell a lot on Amazon and eBay). They usually deliver in 3 or fewer days on their 3-5 day service.

The worst thing about them is their tracking info - it's usually out of date and very unreliable. Many's the time a parcel has been delivered while they're still saying "en route to depot" or similar. Still, better than the other way round! And at least you can call them on a non-premium-rate number if necessary.
  • I agree Yodel... should Yodel off... they didn't collect my parcel (booked through Parcel2Go) I rang them and it just rang on & on, it felt like I was calling a single line not a call centre or multiple lines you'd expect. Never heard back about why it wasn't collected, so P2G changed it to TNT for me. Yodel are new but supposedly have DHL background and expected at least a service... I got a headache that's about it... avoid it like the flu.
