If the householders know their doorbell isn't working (as happens far too often) but expect the parcel delivery person to instinctively know about it instead of leaving a note on the door, it serves them right not to get their parcels. Or don't have either a doorbell or a knocker.

Unfortunately all to often the yodel drivers don't even reach the address to get this problem. there's cctv here, several times they've reported leaving a card as no response. There's been no card, probably because they didn't come to the property.

I must have one of the good Yodel drivers in this case - had nothing but good experiences.

Items left outside have always been well wrapped and protected (in additional bin bags on top of the normal packaging) and left in sensible places. Also on a number of occasions I came home to a missed delivery card with a mobile number added - called them and they came back out within 30-60 mins at 5-7pm. Can't fault them from my experience.

That said in general I opt for Royal Mail or Parcel Force - but only because I happen to live a 2 minute walk from the local sorting office.

Just waiting for them to change their name again now that they have tarnished the Yodel name after a matter of months.
  • If you use TNT be aware .. if there is any damage you will only be able to make a claim if the parcel is signed for as DAMAGED. When the courier arrives he/she will offer you a pad to sign. Be aware you are then signing for everything received in good condition! Most drivers will not wait whilst you open and examine goods, so TNT have told us that you must sign for as DAMAGED, just in case you find damage later, else they won't process a claim. Some drivers suggest using the term 'unchecked' ... this is meaningless, do not do it. TNT seem to have a very high damage rate. This will actually mean more revenue for them as the goods are usually then returned and later replaced by the supplier (i.e. more shipping!) , subsequently they will do nothing to investigate damage reports as they rarely pay out. Help stop this by signing for all deliveries as DAMAGED ... their paid-out claims will increase and eventually they will do something to reduce damages and actually provide a better service ... more reliable, less packaging required etc ... they may even get more customers!

This is news? I thought it was common knowledge!
  • I ordered a camera from Amazon before Christmas, value £250 and it was to be delivered by Yodel. I was at home all day and as darkness approached I turned on the porch light so the door number could be seen and kept an eye on the front door as my bell can be temperamental. At no point did anyone attempt a delivery to my address. I checked the parcel tracking website that evening to find that apparently the parcel had been delivered, you can imagine my annoyance.
Contacted Yodel the following day, they took the details and said they would investigate. Got a call back a few hours later and was told the driver said the item had been left on my doorstep. Complete b****CKs! I contacted Amazon and was pleased with their service, they too contacted Yodel who repeated the same lie but Amazon sent out the item again within a couple of days and via a different courier it arrived safely the day after despatch.
If it is company policy for Yodel drivers to lie about deliveries then why would any retailer use them, cheap or not, if they are constantly having to replace goods that go astray? If it is not company policy then what the hell are Yodel doing to address dishonest and incompetent staff? I'm struggling to understand how this company are still in business, no matter how often they rebrand themselves.

I have been shopping on the Internet for a number of years and the only real problem was 'The Royal Mail' because just occasionally something 1st class would go missing for a few extra days and once in a blue moon disappear completely, but in general the system worked right up until ‘Home Delivery Network Limited’ or HDNL.
Then my orders suddenly disappeared for days on end and quite often completely and although it turned out to be a real cowboy organisation I was consoled in the knowledge that at least things couldn’t get any worse and they would soon be out of business. However instead of this they had a new paint job and became Yodel so they didn’t go out of business and things did get much worse, instead of an ignorant yob at the end of the complaints line there was no one and in order to complain by email you had to know not only your own details and ‘Tracking Number’ but all of the suppliers details plus their ‘Collection Number’ whatever that was.
In the last 2 years out of 47 orders made over the net I have had 4 missing orders, 5 paid for next day deliveries default plus 4 orders (now 5) that have sat in the Wendesbury Hub (Yodel) for over 36 hours. Out of the aforementioned occurrences the Royal Mail had involvement in just one, Yodel has to claim credit for the remainder but they won’t, a delivery I was to have received yesterday was still uncollected by the Courier at 11:40, maybe he was still hung over, been clubbing or something so come 13:30 it was blamed on the bad weather although 3 other couriers were out on my road yesterday.
In conclusion I would say that Yodel aren’t even Cowboys because cowboys are unpredictable we all know what to expect from Yodel and I would go so far as to say “Shouldn’t such a national scandal be raised in Parliament”? It is after all a Nationwide Rip Off because it is us that pay for this substandard service so it’s not a real delivery company that really believes in quality customer service it’s just lip service, just total lies, it's just pretend.

Item in our local newspaper about the poor behaviour of both Parcel Force and a Post Office:

    http://www.freepressseries.co.uk/news/10139733.Chepstow_wheelchair_user_s_frustration_at_parcel__pantomime_/

They did their best to not deliver a parcel or allow it to be collected.
  • No surprise to me because I've had some terrible experiences with Yodel. Even their delivery man told me how reckless they are with parcels.

I try to avoid any company that uses Yodel. If I find out that they use Yodel then I don't order with them and go elsewhere.

They are too willing to mess people around and waste people's time IMO.
