  • BF loved his birthday present! Made him a full breakfast complete with a cheeky glass of Buck's Fizz! If you can't treat those you love on their birthday then what's the world coming to?! He's gonna out bowling with a couple of his mates this afternoon and then we're all heading out for tea tonight. He told me off for getting such an expensive gift and offered me some money towards it but told him not to be silly. With him already agreeing to help me with grocery costs over the next couple of months I think my DFD will be shooting round mega quick!

I wonder where I would be now if I hadn't decided this time last year to start paying down my debts? Even though these last couple of months are really dragging me down and feel tough to get through at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. I could have just carried on spending money I didn't really have and not have anything to show for it. So over the last year I haven't been out much or bought myself loads of new clothes but that's no big deal is it?! I can't wait to just get paid and all of the money be mine. I'll be able to save up for the things I want and enjoy the feeling of knowing I've worked for them! I guess I'm on countdown to payday now as well as countdown to the BC being cleared as well as my loan being finished. Those will be two great milestones that I hope really boost my morale for clearing the final balance on my NW CC!

  • First day back to work today, got lots to do and need to get my head back into my old department. I'm sure by the end of the week it'll be like I never left!

Came home to a BT offer from Barclaycard, 1.9% fee on 0% interest until November. I've transferred my NW balance as even though it had a couple of months left at 0% it would have cost me at least £60 in interest once I'd paid it back, the transfer fee was £29 on the whole amount so I've defo saved some money and I can easily get everything cleared before November! They must have read my mind as in the back of my head I was planning to ring and ask for a deal! I'm thinking I may try and persuade NW to upgrade my CC to the Select card as they're offering it with cash back. If not I'll just close it and keep my HF cashback CC for spending. Good plan methinks! In a couple of days I'll have all my debts in one place (apart from the last two payments on my loan) means I can attack just that one remaining balance and get rid quick!

Just had a play around with my signature and updated it to reflect my remaining debts. I feel I am on the home straight now and will attack the last of the dreaded totals with venom! I have upped my fixed BC to £250 per month which is the original £220 + the £25 I used to pay to Nationwide and then an extra £5 just so it's a nice round number! I've been playing around with my snowball calculator app and I can have all this gone in a jiffy if all goes to plan. Just pondering whether to get rid of the first two BTs and then ride out the third until November and make the most of the opportunity to save some money. Means it'll be longer until my official DFD but I will have some actual savings behind me and the debt won't cost me anything. Hmmmmm what to do what to do?? I seem to be wondering about a different action plan every week at the moment! Need to make up my mind! Inadvertently already had two spend days for this month which means I have a grand total of ONE left if I want to make my 25 NSD target. Ha! Will give it my best shot for the rest of the month and see how high I can get!

  • It's that dreaded count down to pay day! 8 days to go! That's not too long. Not spent anything for the last couple of days so I'm on 4 NSDs so far. Still a fair way to go until the end of the month though!! Confident there will be some nice inroads made in the remaining BC balance come the next couple of paydays. This month will be the second to last payment on my loan as well!! :j Happy days!!

  • Just checking in to log my 5th NSD for the month. My meal plan is looking ok for the moment so hopefully I'll stretch things out as long as possible before using up my one last spend day if I'm to reach my target of 25!

Called up NW today and asked whether I can upgrade my CC (with a now zero balance!) with the plan being if I couldn't I'd just close it. They offered me the upgrade instantly plus a £1k credit limit increase (which I said I didn't need :T) Means I can close my HF cash back CC as the only reason I kept it was the cash back it paid. I can also spend abroad without commission which is a nice added bonus! I'll be down to two CCs then which I'll be happy with - BC tend to offer out some nice BT deals in case I plan any big purchases in the future.

Went to look at the new housing development with BF in tow. We've got the details and plans for a lovely, big duplex apartment in a great part of town complete with two terraces and two parking spaces. Only downside is the 200k price tag!!! :o Guna have a good think about it and bring both mums and dads to have a look. Decisions decisions! So much money but it will be all singing all dancing. Can't help but think I'm like a magpie drawn to expensive pretty things....

  • C'MON payday!! I want some big fat reductions in these pesky debt totals!!

Checked my online banking yesterday as I generally do on a day to day basis and found an unexpected debit on my CC - I entered the great north run ballot not expecting a place and as they've charged the entry fee I would assume I have been one of the (un)lucky ones and got a spot!! Aaaargh!! I've done it before but that doesn't really sweeten the idea all that much!! Means I've technically had a spend day as well which I think is the bit I'm more annoyed about!! At least it is something for me to aim for. Get my chubby tush into gear and get out running! I was slow last time as I'd been lapse with my training - must train hard this year and smash my time!!!

Ahh congratulations!!! Glad to hear everyone is doing ok :D You've smashed through so much of your debt totals over the last year as long as you don't add any more to it during maternity leave I think you'll have done amazingly well!!
