Tried to pop in a few times over the weekend, I didn't want my visitors to think I was addicted so I was very furtive!
Shirleypark, sorry to hear about ratty, hope you're not feeling too down.
Shell, the Flygirls have said it all, you were brave to stand up to her. I'm sure you wouldn't value her opinon on any other subject so don't let her comments be important to you.
    Lil_me, YEY!! Big Fridge!!

Well I had a bit of a tidy up after the last of the visitors had gone. My Stepdad drilled and fixed in the bathroom so I had to vaccuum all the dust up and just carried on cleaning. No bathroom for me this week then, fingers crossed it's Thursday so I can have my birthday free of Flying!
I'll make a start in the kitchroom tonight, I haven't done any cupboard tackling for a while so I'll do that tomorrow.

Can I get a worry off my chest here please? I've got mixed emotions about the news I had this weekend that I'm going to be an aunty. They're absolutely chuffed as they've been trying for 2 years and have only told immediate family but she's only just 6 weeks pregnant. I didn't do a very good job of letting them know I'm happy for them as I'm going to be worried sick until at least 12 weeks. I kind of wish they hadn't told me just yet but that sounds selfish even as I write it. Am I right to worry?
Sorry to get heavy on a Sunday eve, can't share this with the family obviously.

Right, change my mood... and I've just noticed the time. Hmm, 20 mins max in the kitchen I think.
Have a good start to the week all if I don't come back (I always say that and I always do!)

I know exactly what you mean solway, I was absolutely top secret about my pregnancy until I was 13 weeks gone - no tempting fate for me! Even now (39 weeks) I still get twitchy and dodgy about it all. I think you're being sensible more than anything. You're just worried because you care and that could never be a bad thing! Don't give yourself a hard time about it, it just shows that you love them both and want them to be happy.

I know where you are coming from Solway, we lost one at 9 weeks. Next time I was so paranoid I didn't even want to tell DH (of course I did) until I was 12 weeks. The excuses I was coming up with to avoid anything too strenuous particularly at the beginning are laughable now. So I don't think you are being selfish at all, concerned yes, selfish no.

I would suggest if you are asked to do baby 'stuff' before the 12th week that you don't want to tempt fate as you know of someone who lost their's in the first trimester but emphasise that you would be more than willing after the danger time.

Torianut, Maralum and AnW'smum,Thanks for making me feel better about it. I'm a born worrier and I know they were fit to burst when they found out so only natural. I know plenty of women who haven't made it past 12 weeks, self included, but I'll keep my counsel. And worry in the background!

    Night night, Sol x

Solway can completely understand where you are coming from. This baby stuff is exciting and scarey at the same time, especially as they have been trying for so long. Believe me as nervous as you are about it they are probably terrified. Everytime I told someone (until it became obvious) I felt I was tempting fate!
  • just a quick pop and wanted to say 2 things

re when to tell about pregnancy - its such a personal thing - you are not selfish just concerned - i did tell early second time after a friend of mine had a miscarriage - i just thought if anything happened i wouldn't be able to keep that a secret anyway? but you aren't being selfish solway just thoughtful and caring

and shell bet my bum is bigger than yours!! :rotfl:

    night all see you tomorrow

    Evening everyone.

    I've been semi-productive today.
    • took 2 boxes of toys to my sisters that have been cluttering up my hall for a couple of weeks
    • car has got one coat of paint over the scratches on my car
    • front garden weeded
    • healthy dinner made and eaten
    • visited my aunty in hospital (slight improvement, although she has picked up another infection, so isn't out of the woods yet - darn hospitals)
    • one load of washing hung out and dried
so nothing majorly holding me up starting the new week, and we are working towards a weekend away next weekend, providing things don't go badly for my aunty.

shell - girls of that age can be real pains. Quite a few make comments about me at school. I get fed up of them debating whether i'm pregnant or not. Well done for standing up to her. I fully agree she would be trying to look clever in front of the lads, and you will have embarrassed her and she may think twice before being a madam again.

tracey hope you are successful with the controlled crying. Are you sure it isn't growth spurt time again though, as Charlie has been starting to sleep less time, then on Friday, i increased his food portion before bed, and he slept from 7:30pm to 8:15 am, which was heavenly after a few 6 o clocks.

solway i personally told close friends and family, as we were so excited, but also have to agree with scaredy that i would have wanted their support in the event that anything went wrong. My sis had a miscarriage in the jan as i fell pregnant in feb, and i wanted to cheer her up, although i know this wouldn't have cheered everyone up in this situation.

Anyway, i haven't got too far with planning tomorrow. May just try to do the list, and then fit the rest of what i do around what i see that needs doing.

    Monday 30/4:
Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
    Level One
    Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
    Level Two
    Clean floors
    Clean microwave
Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round
Wipe dining table (clean table cloth if necessary)
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front
    Level Three
Wipe window sill, clean any marks off window if required
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky
Clean oven if you didn’t do it last week
    Declutter mission task
Sort one cupboard of your choice, yes any cupboard, if you're brave do the one you've been putting off all year so far, or just a simple one will do think i am going to make this the freezer, and loosely class this as a cupboard, as it is a place to store food after all. Can't remember when i last defrosted it, but i didn't have a baby, so it is badly in need of sorting, then i may order a grocery delivery for Wedneday as i have to wait in for a parcel anyway, and fill it back up.
    Deal with post
    Make baby bottles
    Make baby fruit purees

torianut - Oven racks, try soaking them in the bath overnight or at least a few hours with some bio washing powder or soda crystals. Works wonders for me.

Solwaykid-I would be the same, hopefully all will be ok. Try not to worry too much about it. Personally I only told very close family with DS2 until I was almost 4 months, just incase.

Still waiting for the darn FF to get cold enough, was hoping to fill it tonight but xx hours settling then how long it takes to freeze, will definately be tomorrow, oh well stops me sneaking a headstart :o
One day I might be more organised...........
