Flylady Thread 30th April 2007

Options
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread, usually ran by Moggins but I'm just filling in temporarily. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

As promised here is the new style Flylady thread. Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement.

I’m going to try in levels. There will be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Seeing as last week went well doing the same but switching the tasks around. So level one isn't the same thing etc.

If you have no children or spare rooms then enjoy your weekend, as those are on the list for tomorrow.

Friday, those dreaded kids rooms and spare rooms

Level One

Level Two

I've not long finished wiping all my cupboard fronts and tops, even moved stuff! Was feeling a bit bored with everyone else out. I took my toaster outside and gave it a good wipe while shaking out all the crumbs.

Wow, I did the declutter task on Wednesday! One of the few things I did do last week :p our toaster could do with a decrumbing though so will make sure I do that.

One of my main tasks this week is to scale iron mountain :o it is literally THAT high!

It's my work-week this week (one on /one off) so without the littlies around in the morning I am usually able to fly before heading off at lunchtime. That's the theory anyway.........

So on monday I will be doing:-

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
    Level One
    Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
    Level Two
    Clean floors
    Clean microwave
Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round
Wipe dining table (clean table cloth if necessary)
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front
    Level Three
Wipe window sill, clean any marks off window if required
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky
Clean oven if you didn’t do it last week

    Declutter mission task
Sort one cupboard of your choice, yes any cupboard, if you're brave do the one you've been putting off all year so far, or just a simple one will do - Kitchen baking cupboard for me, fed up of stuff falling on my head when looking for something.

    Extras

    S & S Lounge
    S & S Bathroom
    Hoover all downstairs
Put ironing away (I WILL do the ironing tonight - maybe!)
Scrub extraction hood in kitchen (got a bit sticky)
Usual pre-school drop off/pick up (lunch club tomorrow)
Mow the lawn (was DH job but he did the fence painting as kids not around)

Got the surveyor coming round tomorrow pm so just want to make sure everywhere is ship-shape, so just a general flick round. So nice not to have to think I have to de-grot top to bottom.

Shouldnt take too long to do the kitchen, think our toaster could do with a decrumb too!

Well lets hope I get a good nights sleep with the littles so I have the energy to do all this.

THANK YOU all for the positive comments, I still feel crappy inside but gonna try to use it as motivation and remember that feeling everytime i wanna eat something bad!!!!

:o I'm doing the baking cupboard too, second time I have set the BM on fire this week, dropping flour onto it when looking in the cupboard!

I like the new FF, aswell as being frost free, anti bac guards, the huge size of it, etc etc it has an alarm if door is left open for over a minute, had this happen last week, kids running in for icelollies!! All the food defrosted that was at the front, hopefully won't happen again.

Aswell as aiming for level 3 I will hopefully get some of this lot done. What is left from weekend list I didn't get done and a few extras. Genuine reason DSs friend had birthday party then for some reason I ended up with all the kids at my house. Why does this always happen to me :rotfl:

    Wash table cloth
    Sort linen box
    [strike]Clean out old fridge
Call Quad track see if we can arrange support group session there
Call The Deep in Hull, see if I can get discounts there for support group trip
Meal plan & shopping list now FF is here
    Pay bills
    Pack [/strike]and post eBay items
Fill new fridge and freezer from old one, old freezer being kept but needs a good defrost after kids leaving door open

Oh and DP says he's taking me out for lunch (we do this sometimes as he works evenings on weekends and no babysitter) wonder if he will. I might refuse unless he helps me with the list. If I ain't at least half way through by lunch time, I ain't going! !

Hiya! Great, a new week so a new start! Really want to make a few changes this week and am going to try and be more relaxed around the house and with baby.

Was out past baby's bedtime and left meal early because he was ready for bed, hes settled and although theres been a few squawks I've left him and he's settled really well. Have been doing the controlled crying with his naps today as really need to break this cycle of keep going into him, after about 4 hours max last night we can't carry on like this, its not fair on him as hes not sleeping properly. Hes slept through since 7 weeks and now having this bad sleeping is really hard. Have had only one bad moment with the crying today and I was in tears myself but know this has got to get worse before it gets better. Have tired everything else and this is a last resort for us but don't know if Dh or I will be strong enough to carry out leaving him. Just hope we all get some sleep tonight, wish us luck! Tomorrows list:

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
    Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
    Clean floors
    Clean microwave
Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round
Wipe dining table (clean table cloth if necessary)
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front
Wipe window sill, clean any marks off window if required
[STRIKE]Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky
Clean oven if you didn’t do it last week [/STRIKE]
Declutter mission task - Sort one cupboard of your choice - baby cupboard

    Dallies
    Pay gas and electric bill
Shopping (might go to Tescos or do online?)

Thats all I'm asking off myself tomorrow, if it doesn't get done I'm not going to kill myself trying to get it done. Hope you all have good days! xx

Good luck tracyg, I know from experience that controlled crying can be harder on the mum than on the baby!!! Keep going though, it's worth it in the end. I know that when I was sleep-deprived when DS was little, I just used to cry all of the time (at least when we were doing the controlled crying, it was only some of the time!).

Well, weekend tasks all completed apart from the de-clutters (as usual), so I'm looking forward to another week of keeping it up as opposed to catching up. We did get some things to the tip though, so I could count that as a de-clutter?!?

    Manic Monday - Kitchen

    Level One
    Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
    Level Two
    Clean floor
    Clean microwave
    Check for cobwebs
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front
    Level Three
Wipe window sill, clean any marks off window if required
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky
Clean oven if you didn’t do it last week
    Declutter mission task
Sort one cupboard of your choice

    Dailies
    S an S bathroom
    S and S living room
    Vacuum throughout
    Put washing on
    Make beds

Right, I'm off to bed after extreme makeover. I'll see you here bright and early tomorrow, so sleep well and don't share the covers - you need your sleep if you're going to fly high!

Hooray lil_me, enjoy your fridge! I love new household appliances.
