    Update.....

well, I started using the crest stripes a week ago monday, on the monday I did it twice in one day, but since then only once per day, and TBH I have yet to notice any difference.

I am a little peeved, as I havent got stained teeth or anything, as I go to the hygenist 3 times a year, but they look a little tired and old, so really I wanted them whiter, and as far as I can see they still look the same.

I dont know if I have got a dodgy pack, but I am having trouble getting them to stay on specially the bottom teeth.

I open the packet carefully, and just use the middle bit, but sometimes they end up tearing, again its always the bottom ones.

Has anyone else had problems like I have just mentioned?

I don't have issues with them tearing - are you just using the middle piece?
The end bits are just where the machine cut them so you can get the piece out.

Also the lower is smaller than the top, but I must say my teeth are much whiter already - I'm also doing only one a day.. skipped a few days this weekend mind seeing I was out most of it.

But def working - and I have now had some sensitivity it feels like there is a cavity when you eat something. but there isnt

Surely if it's a peroxide, it's just designed to remove staining? It can't actually make your teeth whiter than they are already.

Yes, I have the Premium pack and the bottom strips are very annoying. My tactic is to put it on and try and move my lips/tongue as little as possible and try and try and keep saliva to the back. The top strips seem to stay in place ok.

I am on day 4 and I think the front teeth and definitely whiter, although it seems some parts take it better than others, after using it there are white areas which disappear after a few hours, I assume it disperses and whitens it overall gradually. My canine (pointy) teeth have always been a bit darker and they still are, if they are noticeably darker at the end I might try another box, I am travelling to the US early July so I might get a box there if the price is the same.

Out of interest was your box well in-date? Mine is Feb 2008 and the lot numbers on the strips are the same.

Thankyou for your reply, as I was thinking it was just me.

When you think well, mine are not that bad, but even so, I do have trouble keeping the bottom ones to stay on,and i am so careful, and thats one of the problems I have regarding this product.
Its not the stains that are the problem, as i havent any stains, I just want them to look brighter and whiter.

perhaps I should write to crest and tell them what I think:rolleyes:

High bleach levels in tooth kits

_41035196_smile203.jpg People rate whitened teeth as more attractive

Tooth whitening kits have been found to contain illegally high levels of the bleaching agent hydrogen peroxide.
Trading Standards Institute (TSI) tests found hydrogen peroxide levels were higher than the legal limit in 18 out of 20 DIY products tested.
In one case the legal limit was exceeded by a factor of 230 times.
Hydrogen peroxide, commonly used as a hair dye, can aggravate gum disease and cause sensitive teeth - or even chemical burns to the mouth.
o.gifstart_quote_rb.gifWe strongly recommend that anyone considering having their teeth whitened cosmetically should consult a qualified dentist end_quote_rb.gif

It is thought that the use of tooth whitening kits is gaining in popularity, in part fuelled by a desire to replicate the dazzling smiles of Hollywood stars.
Ron Gainsford, TSI chief executive, said kits for home use cost as little as £14.
He said: "We strongly recommend that anyone considering having their teeth whitened cosmetically should consult a qualified dentist.
"However, I must stress that our tests were carried out on teeth whitening kits - and we are not suggesting there is a problem with the whitening toothpastes or polishes that are also on the market."
    Only two passed
Officers from the Central England Trading Standards Authorities purchased 16 teeth whitening kits via the internet or over the counter from pharmacists or beauty shops across the Midlands.
They found that only two complied with the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations, which ban the sale or use of teeth whitening products that contain more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide.
The two that passed the test were Boots Expert Teeth Whitening Programme and the 'Brilliant' tooth whitening system, distributed in the UK by Brilliant Products, of Staines, Middlesex.
The remaining 14 contained amounts of hydrogen peroxide ranging from 0.24% to 23.8%.
In addition, Hertfordshire Trading Standards sampled four teeth whitening products, bought over the internet from UK suppliers.
They found all contained higher than the legal level of hydrogen peroxide, with one containing 7.3%. Manufacturers and suppliers of all the items that did not comply with the 0.1% limit are now being contacted and advised to withdraw the products from sale. Investigations are still going on with a view to possible further action.

Thank you very much for that IClaudius.

I found the comment from the trading standards guy very interesting, as technically the products dentists use are 'illegal' as well!

We as a profession have been warned that trading standards have the right to take action against us should they wish!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I agree with you on this one IClaudius, I have heard lots of horror stories about these kits. I recently got my teeth done from this company www.srmlightershades.co.uk for £189, and the technician even came out to my workplace. They used a safer form of whitening which was Chlorine Dioxide which is 100% safe to gums and enamel and the company is CE (conformit europenne - European health and safety product label) approved according to their website.

I got it done in Manchester city centre, but they have technicians nation wide now he told me - it took about 1 hour including free consultation and I went 12 shades lighter!!
