My electricity is much higher than my gas so it might work.
Although with the main charging unit of 7.22p less than your 7.40p, I think I might still be better with mine. Just worked it out - I'm £1.87 better off with my electricity tariff.
Yeah I had noticed that your second rate was slightly lower than mine - I guess if you use a lot of electricity that would made a bit of a difference overall.:D There's not that much to choose between the V Online tariffs as far as I can see from others who have posted their unit prices as well. Some seem to be a little better for gas and others seem to be a little better for electricity so it seems to even itself out. I'm keeping an eye on all the price cuts though and if something gets a good bit cheaper then I'll switch again (I wouldn't want to go through all the hassle for a nominal saving in a year though.)

I was corned by EDF energy on Wednesday, and have had some paper work through today.
What i'll do, is put on less gas and electric and see if they really are cheaper! Will be interesting. If not, I'll just go to someone else, it's not that big of a hassle."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
EDF Online V5 is available through Energyhelpline
It's also available through moneysupermarket with £30 cashback, I signed up to Online Energy V5.1 today after 4 years with Scottish Power.A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.0 -
Anyone know why the v1 rates are higher than those posted in this thread who are on v3 and v4?
My rates (including VAT) are as follows:-
Electricity
First 225 kWh - 13.71p
Additional kWh - 7.29p
Gas
First 1465 kWh - 3.670p
Additional kWh - 2.308p
Was looking to change but probably not worth it as I'm on a V tariff?0 -
Hi Guys, just thought I would add my two penneth. I'm currently on a v1 tarriff and my rates are shown below Exc VAT.
Gas
3.456....2.174
Elec
11.76.....7.34
It would seem that my costs are above those on v2,3+4 tarriffs but I'm sure this is because I live in Cheshire and they have to pay more for transportation costs across the various networks (I'm not on a private gas network, I know they cost more) can anyone confirm this?:coffee:0 -

Your rates are lower than mine and I'm on a v1 tariff too (see the post above yours)! I'm in Manchester.0 -

Hi TraceyJ,
I know that all the V rates are different but I can't give you any explanation for why the V1 rates are more expensive than the later versions. Your prices look slightly higher even than the V5 rate they have on offer at the moment (at least in terms of electicity prices.) Although it tends to be the case that the V tariffs beat any new tariffs in your case I would definitely look into switching just to see as there might be something cheaper in your area. As I've said above use the comparison websites to see what the cheapest is for your area but don't take the savings they say you could make as read - compare the exact tariffs with your current tariffs (but also take into any discounts on offer such as DD and Dual Fuel discounts) and if you find something cheaper then it's probably worth switching.

The V tariffs are the online tariffs that I've been talking about so you're really lucky to be on that as it's no longer available. At those rates I really can't see you finding a better deal anywhere as those prices are very good.
No the price cut will only apply to their standard tariff. The V tariffs virtually did not get put up so it stands to reason there won't be any prices cuts on them for the foreseeable future.

I'm on an EDF online tariff version 3 and last September 2006 they increased the prices of gas and electricity up by 19.9% for gas & 18.2% for electricity for this tariff, so they certainly put their online tariffs up by a hell of an amount but don't reduce them by such!

Hi Fergee,
As I said to Tracey above I would use the comparison sites just to check what is cheapest for your particular area just in case you could find something cheaper. I don't know anything about extra transportation costs in certain areas though.

Hi Gareth,
Yes I think all the V tariffs were raised by this amount last September but this was the only raise in 2006 as far as I'm aware (it was the only one I experienced anyway) whereas I'm sure BG amongst others raised their prices several times throughout the year.
It would be great if EDF now reduced the prices on the V tariffs by the amount they put them up but I just don't see it happening since most of the V tariffs are still the cheapest around despite no price reduction. If you are on V3 you may well not be able to find anything cheaper in your area but it's a good idea to check regularly just in case.
