EDF Online V5 is available through Energyhelpline
Hi Jem,
When did they start doing that? All the online plans disappeared last year and I haven't heard of anyone getting them since. That would be great for people if they were bringing them back again! What are the prices on it like though - are they as good as the old V tariffs?
Also I tried to find it for my area but couldn't so perhaps it's just in specific areas they've brought it backAll energyhelpline came up with for me was an EDF capped price plan and it was bottom of the list!!
Regards

As an update to the post above:
I tried a few more postcodes on Energyhelpline to see if I could find the V5 tariff and it finally came up when I tried my sister's postcode (Manchester.) It was only 6th in the list though so wouldn't be the best tariff for that area - it was beaten by Utilita, BG Click Energy 2, Npower Sign On-line 6, Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 3 and Atlantic E&G - Internet Direct No Standing Charge (It was not beaten in terms of unit charges by most of these though but by virtue of the extra discounts they offer that it does not.)
It is termed as Online 5 (Post 2nd Jan) so I guess it's been around since the start of the year. I've no idea what all the areas it's available in are though.
The tariff prices are not quite as good as my V4 tariff, however, or the other V tariff unit charges I have seen people post on here. They're not at all bad though and I'll detail them below if anyone wants to know what they are:
Unit charge (pence per kWh)
GAS: 3.478p for the first 1465 kWh per quarter, and 2.451p thereafter
ELEC: 9.828p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 6.353p thereafter
I guess this will be cheaper in some areas for some people but I suspect that it can be beaten in others as it was in the Manchester search I did. It's definitely better than what you're paying though BritBrat so I'd definitely be looking into switching if I were you.
Regards

They did disappear but came back about beginning of April for my area. However the price isn't as good as my V3.1 tariff., although better than the standard tariff. Also I tried to find it for my area but couldn't so perhaps it's just in specific areas they've brought it backAll energyhelpline came up with for me was an EDF capped price plan and it was bottom of the list!!

I thought you were in Glasgow as I am? If it came up for me, it's strange it didn't come up for you.0 -

Hi Jem,
Thanks for that - it's strange it says post Jan 2nd on it if it only turned up in April but I guess it was probably rolled out in some places in Jan. As you can see above I did a bit more research and found the tariff and like you it's not as good as my V4 tariff but, as you say, definitely better than the standard one.I thought you were in Glasgow as I am? I am!!That's why it was so confusing!! I regularly check all the comparison sites to see what new tariffs may be popping up and I haven't seen an online EDF one since last May/June for my postcode. I tried all different usage levels and saying I was with different companies etc but there was still no sign of it for Glasgow yet it popped up straightaway when I tried my sister's postcode in Manchester - very strange

I believe it was only available in SE England to start with then rolled out through other areas. What are your rates for V4 if you don't mind me asking?I am!!That's why it was so confusing!! Very strange. I can't see it being available in one area of Glasgow and not another. I'm in G73 and put in London Energy as my supplier.0 -

Hi Jem,
No don't mind at all. My rates at the moment are:
Unit charge (pence per kWh)
GAS: 3.060p for the first 1465 kWh per quarter, and 2.032p thereafter
ELEC: 9.27p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 7.05p thereafter
I've got a friend who only lives a few streets away and her prices are marginally better than mine but I think she might be on V3 as she opened her account a month or so before me. So your tariff's probably a bit better than mine too I'd imagine. Still good prices though.Very strange. I can't see it being available in one area of Glasgow and not another. I'm in G31 - I tried putting London Energy in too but it still came up with the capped price plan as the only EDF tariff on offer

Thanks.
Not too different from my tariff.
It is (incl VAT) - are yours with or without VAT?
Gas
2.67p then 1.91p
Electricity
11.34p then 7.22p
So I'm better for gas and you're better for electricity.
By the way I tried a G31 postcode(made up the last bit) and it found EDF Online V5.0 -

Hi Jem,
Sorry mine was Exc. VAT. Inc VAT my prices are:
GAS: 3.213p for the first 1465 kWh per quarter, and 2.134p thereafter
ELEC: 9.73p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 7.40p thereafter
So you're quite a bit better than me for gas but I'm slightly better than you for electricity. I wouldn't mind swapping that around as I use a lot more gas than electric!! :rotfl: Your prices actually look rather similar to my friend's so perhaps she's on V3.By the way I tried a G31 postcode(made up the last bit) and it found EDF Online V5.
Hmm very strange - I tried all sorts of options with my postcode and it steafastly refused to bring the tariff up. Most bemusing!

My electricity is much higher than my gas so it might work.
Although with the main charging unit of 7.22p less than your 7.40p, I think I might still be better with mine. Just worked it out - I'm £1.87 better off with my electricity tariff.0
