That would be new, EDF are one of the "hold outs" who have not reduced their gas prices yet dispite the massive reduction in the cost to them.0

Yes, this appears to be a MOS exclusive story... he wouldn't say by how much though, or when they would kick in0

Well that's good news for those on the standard tariffs at last :T
As I'm on an online tariff with them though I don't expect they will lower that (they only put it up once though in all the time I've been on it while others were getting increase after increase and it's still the cheapest for me as it is so can't complain!)

What a cop out by EDF by not lowering electricity prices too!! Move your accounts , flee, flee !!!. I just don't get it with the biggies, banks, utilities etc are all pulling massive profits (our money) yet do they pass on the good fortune to RETAIN customers? NO is the answer they take weeks, months and even then its a poor response. I am all for making a profit but yet again they miss the point. Overall good customer relations, service and products available to us all will continue to make the cash come in from my pockets. Just don't take the p*ss otherwise am off to someone else who wants me cash!! rant over:mad:
p.s. I am with BG for me leccy as I have no gas (only oil heating) and am on Click energy 2. Cheapest for me in 3 yrs (cs is poor though)Currently 4 me its Rogers Contract cell phone, REBTEL.COM is the best mobile making and receiving calls to/from UK and Canada:beer:0 -

Hi Keefrto,
Although I agree with you about big companies not passing on reductions quickly enough and that anyone on a STANDARD tariff with EDF should seriously look into switching asap for those on their ONLINE tariffs they may well find that they are still by far the best prices for them (as I have.) The online prices, as I stated above, only increased once in well over a year so they have been consistently low. Also the comparison sites do not have these prices on them so people are choosing the wrong tariff to compare with and some are switching thinking they will be saving while unwittingly they are actually going to end up paying more so if you're with EDF it is vital that you are careful to check what tariff you are actually on and compare it against the best available for your area before jumping into switching.

I fully endorse the above from Michelle. I am on EDF V2 Online and none of the other suppliers are close to this. Don't switch without a full check.0

Hi mjmal51,
I'm on V4 and find it's still by far the cheapest too. All the recent press urging people to switch from and boycott EDF has definitely misinformd people who may be on these tariffs and, I'm sure, has prompted quite a number to switch to something that is going to be costing them more money - and since the tariffs are no longer available they won't be able to switch back if they notice their mistake. Although I think some of the press has been justified I also think they have failed to note the existence of these online tariffs and that EDF in general didn't put their prices up as many times or by as much as other big companies did and I think they deserve a little credit for that at least. We can't now expect them to reduce prices by the same extent due to this fact. Saying that though I do think they should have been quicker to reduce their standard tariffs than they have been and if at any time in the future the tariff I'm on does become uncompetitive I'll be the first to advocate switching! For now though I'm happy with what I'm on.
Regards

HERE is the EDF Press Release about the reduction in case anyone comes on to this thread looking for the specifics - basically they are lowering gas prices on their standard tariff by 10.2% but not lowering the electricity prices.

Hi Michelle, couldn't agree more, it's vital that we are furnished with all the info prior to switching
, still EDF had a reall opportunity to blow the BG flame and capitalise on the reduction with a leccy drop too. My rant is still going on in ma heed at the minute especially at the banks. Now we have to pay for banking?? Wot, didn't barclawestroyalfirsthalibank make enough profit last year then????
Rip off Britain we salute you.:TCurrently 4 me its Rogers Contract cell phone, REBTEL.COM is the best mobile making and receiving calls to/from UK and Canada:beer:0 -
I just rang EDF for their new gas prices from 15 June, and the prices on my fixed tariff are still lower than that, so I am well chuffed!Reclaimed thanks to this site:
