just out of interest what are everyone elses settings they have the high and low limit stat on for their multi fuel stoves doing heating and water?

ive heard varying opinions, our neighbours say high 75c low 35c. charnwood say high 70c low 50c??
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

Had mine on 70 for years until water wasn't getting hot the other day. Now down to 50c with water hot enough to do dishes and radiators too hot to touch:D

been experimenting really. the high limit is always set to 75c but have been experimenting with the return. i had it on 35 but it kicks the pump in too quick and then there is no water. 50- it takes over an hour for the pump to kick in and then always shuts off too soon. Ive got it on 40 now and seems ok, although i have an odd setup here in that downstairs rads are on a pump and upstairs are done by gravity (but most of them dont work upstairs) very frustrating!

Mine is the same system as yours except my rads come on upstairs before the one in the hall which requires the pump.

The most frustrating thing for me is, is the bathroom even though only 8ft x 8ft it is always freezing cold. Very odd as the radiator in there is always boiling hot. My hubby reckons its in the twilight zone lol

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
It sounds a funny system does that see ?

As a norm with a stove on a pumped system you have the rad nearest to the stove upstairs to be the heat dump rad, should the power fail the hot water rises to the first rad on the system to dissipate the heat.

All rads should be on when the pump comes on, but yours sounds like its part pump fed part gravity which is a bit odd.

Onto stats ive just dropped ours to 25 - 30 just so it stays on longer to make the most of the heating overnight if ive not banked it up with smokeless, its normally set to 50 - 55.

ive made some good progress today on the heating. Ive turned 2 rads off upstairs which usually work which is on the gravity feed side. The two that dont have magically come on. So im thinking there are probably too many radiators on the gravity system and too little on the pump. It would be good to swap them around but i imagine this would require a complete repipe :(

Radiator in downstairs hall only comes on when the pump kicks in. Has it been fitted all wrong?

I've got 3 on gravity and one downstairs on pump. I've also just copied Muckybutt and turned my stat down to 30. I must say, I'm getting greater fuel efficiency since turning it down from 70 to 50. Before I was loading the stove twice a day to keep the pump going, now I'm loading it once and feeling the same heat:D
