How Do I Stop Abusive Messages From Ebay

Options
I'm in a right state,

I am selling a iPhone 5 on Ebay & asked questions about it on a thread here

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4384943

So with this advise I have put the iPhone is unlocked & will lock to the first sim card company you put in the phone. It comes with a Vodafone sim card pack but you do not need to use it.

I have today had someone trying to buy the phone with cash, I told them no I only accept Paypal, they then asked if they pay through paypal can they come & pick it up. I said no because for my saftey I only post.

Then they have got nasty & said that it's a good idea you have not given your address out as they will come round & sort you out as it's locked to Vodafone.

I said it's not locked to anything & I am pleased I do not ahve you coming to my home,

Well they have got more nasty now & are sending lots of messages saying:

fraud, impostor, cheat, deceiver, crook, swindler, rogue, adventurer, false, sharper, humbug, leg, bilker, mountebank, beguiler, sharp

Firstly is everyone sure it is unlocked????

And secondly how do I report them so they stop?

Thank You

A very worried, Upset Luckyone

Can't help you with whether the phone is unlocked or not, but you can report the buyer here http://spd.ebay.com/RBASellerHub

Where did you buy the phone from? If it were apple direct from their own store, it will be unlocked permanently, but if you bought it from a mobile phone provider it will either be locked to their network, or the "unlocked till first ever sim is put in" thing happens. I dunno if that is true though. Just what I have heard, or read, and not personally experienced.

Report person via ebay but does sound like phone might be locked to Vodafone but even if it is does not warrant abuse like this.
I would suggest you clear up whether or not this phone will lock as this will make difference to buyers.

Oh and be safe, only post via a properly insured service (ie upto the cost of buying a brand new spanking iphone 5 16gb) and make sure you cover yourself. Photo the wrappings, package itself, and phone showing its proper condition. Also take a note of the imei number/serial number) Both on the box sticker, and the number on the back of the phone. Just in case someone tries a fast one with claiming damage upon arrival etc.

    Thank You,

I need to stop the auction as I have just asked on the Apple website & they say it is probably locked to Vodafone.

Someone has bid on the phone, if I stop the auction will this person be charged for the phone, like they have won it?

    Thank's xxx

OK I have tried to stop the auction but it will not let me as it is a auction

I can't edit it, I feel sick to my stomach

What can I do apart from let it go on & message each person bidding?

There is a process to stop an auction if you do it in good time. I once cancelled an auction with bids on, it was for a faulty electronic gadget - someone posted an Ebay message to me advising how to fix it and the method worked!

iPhone 5s are massive fraudster magnets. You can tick an option somewhere to only accept bids from people with higher than a certain amount of feedback. But wont stop all fraudsters.

On your own side, have all proof of purchase history etc to hand and mention it exists in your listing, while on the other hand emphasising how strict you are going to be about how you deliver the phone.

How to end a listing (yes it is fiddly):

As long as you're out of contract, phone up Vodafone, pay the fee for the network unlock code and unlock it yourself.

I think that you need to cancel all of the bids that have been made so far and once you have done this, you should be able to end the auction.

The issue is that it was a free phone, won via a competition, iirc, and came with a voda sim, so obviously hasn't been used. Besides which apple unlock codes notoriously takes a while to come through/be actioned.
