Well 'tis technically done - made the transfer this morning and cleared the interview train ticket costs off the CC, so I am now Debt Free :T

    Briefly, that is :rotfl:

The overspend (partly Great Spring Clean related) and that train ticket have taken up my spare money from April's paycheque, and I know that May's won't stretch to both a holiday (even one as cheap as I am planning) and my college fees (which are still awaiting exact confirmation but will need to be paid immediately). So one or the other will need to go on the 0% card and be cleared ASAP. I am hoping that I might be able to get them gone with June's paycheque but if not it should be July at the latest. At which point I am hoping I will be properly DF and able to declare myself so :D

Nearly there Rosa, and at least now you are actually paying off the card when you plan to, rather than employing the Annie effect as I call it....tomorrow tomorrow there's always tomorrow :) well done.

Pay day here so pennies to payments, I need to make a payment (more than just min balance) to my cc (the debt one, not my everyday one...which I use as I get cashback) but things feel close now. Been a long journey.

It's a long trek isn't it - but looking forward to seeing where we end up :)

I've been having an antisocial but very chilled and rather effective weekend - got lots of Ebay stuff done yesterday as well as studying and properly cooking. Today was also going well til I decided to squeeze in a 20 minute job and do the car checks... the blinkin hose came off the tyre attachment on tyre 3  so left not knowing where I was at in case it had been loose and all of them are wrong... rushed off to Tatco who didn't have any, thought I was going to the nearby Half0rds which has closed, and now too late to get to the one across town so will have to make trip tomorrow  not happy. Plus the service is overdue - I thought they'd signed one off when they did all the sale checks, but it's not in the book and the car is reminding me so ought to get that done soon. Panicked and checked that the MOT is in date which is is, phew :o. So v cross at having tomorrow disrupted when I was going to stay home, but glad when I realised that actually the cost isn't a problem because I have a car fund that will cover it! :T

Decided KonMari is right about getting one type of things sorted first... really must get all the Ebay etc stuff out of the house. Only a few things left to list tomorrow and then I will have to decide what to do about the velvet etc that is off season, ie whether to hang onto it for a few months in the hope of a better price or just get it gone. After that and a few bits of mending I will be ready to start on the paperwork!

    Hello Rosa,

Congratulations on your temporary DF status. Hopefully we can all come to a party in your diary in June or July. We could make it a summer garden party perhaps?

I'll bring the custard creams and chocolate cake!

Well there will certainly be GF chocolate cake at the party... if all goes well I may even manage to bake some next weekend. It's just as well Nora has volunteered to bring the custard creams though as I can't say they're top of my list.

Yes, there will be a definite thread party when it happens :D I think we may have to get the pole out again too :rotfl:

Well allegedly Credit Control have been told what's what and will be able to sort out my fees properly - nothing showing yet but will phone them tomorrow. I suspect this may have something to do with my minor explosion on Friday when I told the poor kid on the line that this was now beyond ridiculous and I would be making a complaint. Politely, mind. They won't let students speak directly to departments and it all has to be transmitted at second hand by some poor kid and probable fellow student on the phone. Interesting that announcing yes I would be emailing the registrar now seems to have got the issue closed.

So yes hopefully I will be able to sort that tomorrow - which would be good to get it finally done but mean I am back to non DF :/ . I've also had two 3bay sales, one of which went for over £20 more than I was expecting, so assuming they both pay that will be £40 into this month's budget. I've listed a whole bunch of things tonight so hopefully there will be a bit more next week too.

And the car is now sorted - I have a new tyre inflator wotsit which is brilliant, it's smaller than the old one and has a screw fitting to the valve instead of the bend-at-right-angles kind... and I picked up an analogue gauge so I can do checks without having to get the inflator out, which will hopefully mean I do it more regularly. Had to try very hard not to laugh when the kid in Half0rds who kindly directed me to them told me rather patronisingly 'that's a tread depth gauge' when I was looking at the kind which don't have a dial... I pointed out that it seemed to say it was for pressure and just didn't have a dial, and found myself suddenly realising how much fun I am going to have causing mischief when I am old and deaf and demented :D Oh, and the car has also been to the car wash - I suddenly realised the poor thing hadn't had a wash since I bought it so it has had the full spa experience now. I will hoover it too once I've got the charity shop bags delivered. I do forget how much difference the car makes to me so am expressing belated gratitude now and will look after it better in future! Thanks to Vasseur whose new car lovefest reminded me :T

I am beginning to feel much more in control what with the DF and spring clean and getting the dissertation sorted (as you can see I am back to pootling around literature searches and scribbling things at silly o'clock at night, and had forgotten how much fun it all is - however strange that makes me :rotfl:). I've done a good bit of cleaning this weekend in between studying and the only bits of the flat that still need sorting are the living room which needs to be rid of all the Ebay and charity shop stuff, and the garden.

    More plodding :)

Ha! It is a bit of a lovefest :rotfl:

Glad that you have almost sorted your fees. Such a shame it had to come to almost losing it on the phone though. Maybe they will gettheir backsides in gear now.

    Keep plodding :)

I've just ordered a new "bumper tow eye cover" for The Peril (my car) as her original one got lost somewhere between Staffordshire, Essex and Kent last month. Shhh, don't mention it to her though - it's a surprise. :D

Rosa - if you're anything like me, when I go beyond shouting I go into very low, deliberate super-nanny type voice, pre-empted with 'I know this is not your fault however, you are the person I am talking to and thus I require to resolve this...' My friend calls it my scary phone voice.
