It was well enough presented for you to buy it not that long ago, so it stands to reason that someone else will be attracted as it is too.

    Exciting times :)

    Another Sunday shuffle round up...

Nothing changed, really. Still need to claim expenses but allowing for them coming back in this month, I'm back in the black. Which is a relief, I feel like I've caught up with myself.

No major expenses planned this month, and the budget is reasonable. Thinking about moving and what to do with accounts - considering swopping one if I can get a bonus, and also want to get another 0% card before I move and alter my credit record, in case I want to furnish a new place. I've been offered a 0% deal by one of my banks, so have just flagged it ready.

Spent an absolutely bonkers amount on 'groceries' this month which needs looking at, I have got in the habit of including stuff for the house in there rather than tracking it separately and also including eating in the work restaurant... so think those are the culprits. Think I'll review everything when I move though, rather than now.

So all good here, hope you are all having a peaceful weekend too :)

Oh my - just popped in top catch up and HOW FLIPPING EXCITING!! Your proposed relocation sounds utterly amazing - really really pleased for you! :T:T:T

Looking forward to hearing how plans progress - is letting out your current house and renting in the new location for a while at least an option?

    Thanks EH! I thought you'd approve :D

I already have a potential place to rent there, but am not sure about letting this one. I suspect it would need the cosmetic work done, which I don't have immediate funds for - that's why I was doing it slowly - and also that the rental income would only just cover the mortgage. Plus I'd have to get consent to let, as it isn't on a BTL mortgage at present. I'll see what the agents say, but I think it would be simpler to just sell. Part of the good news about this job is that I'm moving in the right direction house price wise and can get something cheaper, but my salary isn't dropping so I could always come back in a few years if I wanted.

Plans are developing, am literally listing all the people and places I need to see before I go as well as all the stuff I need to sort!

Belated Sunday shuffle... all still on track if I get round to claiming my expenses :o . I know it's daft, it's about the best paid twenty minutes I get but I put it off because I hate the forms :o. Hopefully sorting it tomorrow. I've continued budgeting money into the buffer fund and also put some extra into the electric pot as I know I'm way in debit and don't want a nasty shock when I move.

Closed a storecard I only opened a few weeks ago - they managed to get my dob wrong which stopped me using the online service, give me a limit six times what I asked for, write saying they didn't have a proper credit agreement anyway and fail to reduce the limit as I asked last time I rang. Enough already. I didn't really need it and only got it for the 10% discount so no loss - plus they may be closing so unlikely there will be good offers in future. And I ordered another ShopN5can voucher that will go towards yet more storage boxes.

Estate agent has been and his suggested pricing is about what I hoped for so that's reassuring. Another one coming this week and I'll probably get a third next week too. Lots of tidying and cleaning and filing and minor painting that needs doing in the next few weeks to try and get the place looking decent for photos :( ... trying to remind myself that it benefits me too as I am still here another few months and the more organised I am the easier the move will be. It just feels a bit odd doing all the stuff I was going to do for being here when I won't be. I'm having minor wibbles about all the changes... but still going and house-wise I still think selling is a better solution than letting, as even if I want to come back I will be able to save in the meantime. Have confirmed the offer of a place to rent and arranged to go and see it in a few weeks. I think I will need storage too (the new place is a bit smaller), so can look for that at the same time.

Deep breaths and remembering to do things bit by bit... so now off to make cheese on toast and watch Blackadder (I'm watching old box sets while filing and packing, keep me amused but don't need any of the concentration I need for other things!).

So all good here, hope all good with everyone out there too.

    Hello Rosa,

    Really exciting albeit overwhelming times.

Not sure if I've mentioned this to you before but years ago I mentioned to my bank that I wanted to rent it out for a while and what would I need to change on my mortgage. They stated that it was fine to rent the place out for 1 year without it affecting my mortgage in any way (as people do genuinely need to do that at times for work commitments). I also had an outstanding mortgage as it was just 1.5%. That was with HSBC.

But I also understand the need for a clean cut too. My list of options literally cripple my brain when it comes to making firm decisions.

Thanks MT. I did think again about that, as I am finding I'm very fond of this little house and there is a potential contact who I could rent it to directly. I think I'll call the mortgage company next week, once I've got an idea about selling, and think about it after that.

I'd guess it comes down to whether knowing you have the "safety net" of your little house still being there if we wanted to return to it would make things easier, or harder, down the line? We've pretty much decided now that as and when we come to move up we will be letting the flat - with the difference in prices there and down South it's the only chance we'd have of leaving ourselves ANY chance of returning if we did want to.
