We've pretty much decided now that as and when we come to move up we will be letting the flat - with the difference in prices there and down South it's the only chance we'd have of leaving ourselves ANY chance of returning if we did want to.
Thanks EH
If all went well, I would have more earning capacity coming back in a couple of years than going, and even if not I'd be able to save while I was there. I suspect the issue for coming back would be more about finding a job near enough to the house. All things to go in the decision file for later!Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

An early shuffle as I'm out tomorrow and my lie in plans were scuppered by next door! But it's a nice day and means I'll get stuff done so not too grumpy.
Nothing exciting to report... accounts all on track, still haven't sorted expenses as though I did collate the receipts the work system wouldn't let me in! So will try again tonight.
Second estate agent has been, both seem to think the same minimum but one thinks it's worth pricing a bit higher and the other says start low and hope for multiple bids. So far I'm inclined to go with the one who said start high as he seemed rather more knowledgeable (and gave specific advice on preparation), but is also possibly more expensive. Will get one more to come next week. Both confirmed that what I expected from doing my own homework is about right, and the second one also confirmed that my homework on the letting income is about right and so that's now very much a fallback option - I think it would only just cover additional insurance as well as the mortgage. If I get the expected price then with the original deposit plus equity I could buy somewhere up there on a lower LTV which would be easier to switch to a BTL mortgage later if I want to move again.
Should chuck a bit more in the electric pot on payday, then that will hopefully be nearly covered. It's bright here today but not very warm, I still have one heater on and turned down but the rest are all off so usage should be dropping now.
I should start using the local swim membership I'm paying for- I keep thinking that, and then evenings get taken up with moving related stuff. Hopefully it will calm down in a bit.
Thinking I need a mini break before I move, but am slightly bemused about what to do since most of my favourite places will be closer once I do move :rotfl:and I keep thinking I need to save for the move until I remember that most of the costs will be covered by the relocation package. I may need to readjust my goals in the autumn! but for now I think I'm just going to enjoy and do whatever comes up that looks like fun
Sig updated as now 6% paid off the mortgage and 20% off the van!

Super quick shuffle report - all still on track.
No news to add really, had a lovely afternoon out with a friend today and am otherwise alternating tidying (for packing and house sale) with watching favourite DVD box sets - a couple of sorting jobs, then another episode. Getting there bit by bit.

Hi Rosa,
It's exhausting planning ahead like that, isn't it? It's good to know the Estate Agents have confirmed your research which hopefully helps with making decisions either way.
It sounds like a break away somewhere could help you. If you'll be closer to your favourite places when you move, is it worth having a last hoorah closer to where you currently live?
Good luck with all the changes going on.

Yes I think you're right MT - it's the juggling options thing... hopefully it will all come clear in a bit.
I am trying to think of favourite places nearby but so far have scheduled them all on weekends! as that means friends are able to come too. I might just have some half days to give me a bit more flexibility as I'm sorting things.

Hello Rosa,
How are things going? I assume there's so much information swirling around your head that it's difficult to know which direction you're ready for.
I hope you've been enjoying lovely weekend local jaunts with friends. Particularly as we're so Bank Holiday rife at the moment.

Thanks MT :A
Things are good - currently sorting the house for sale and decided to give myself a couple of weeks extra, so less stressed about it now. I'm trying to get as organised as possible at the same time so weirdly, there are a few things I've been spending on, but it's all good. And I watched the entire series of Marie Kondo, it was brilliant
I will be back with a shuffle later in the week as I do need to get back to the tracking. And I must get a 0% card in case of expenses.

I keep meaning to watch Maria Kondo on Netflix. Thanks for the reminder. I'll start that this weekend.
It's good you've taken some pressure off with a couple of weeks flexibility. So much to think about.
