OS, Sunday 29/04/2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 29/04/2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Again, here in Wales it looks like it is going to be another cracking day.

Working this morning i/o this afternoon which after the 2 eldest's behaviour yesterday is just as well I think. Both of them primarily led by the eldest gave my OH hell while I was at work, despite a conversation yesterday when I asked him to look after his dad and behave, and so today I am going to take them to one side after work and read the riot act to them. Unfortunately OH is not consistent with them and I think after me being around all of the time for the last couple of months they took full advantage of that fact.

Today the plan is to have a tidy and there are 2 loads to get out on the line. We decided on roast chicken with all the trimmings for tea and OH can decide what is for lunch for them all.

Morning. I have a jippy stomach this morning, so have been up early with that. I don't think I need to go into detail!
Now that I have checked the e-mail, I wonder what to do? The newsagent does not open until 8 so I have to wait for the paper, and consequently take the dog for a walk.
Church later, a long old day because the kids all have band practice after that.
Still looks to be sunny, so maybe a BBQ tonight and a bit of gardening...

Hiya! An absolutely beautiful morning here. Hope it is for everyone else! NEA9VE – hope poorly tummy gets better. Sun is beaming and it is really warm already! Just as well, I have just sorted the washing pile and I have three loads! Don’t know where that came from!

Hope everyone got a bit more sleep last night. I managed to sleep until about 6.30 – a copious amount of liquid refreshment last night must have had something to do with that.
I ma going to get breakfast on in a minute – cereal with sultanas, goji berries and maybe a banana and freshly-squeezed orange juice made from the massive oranges I bought from the farm shop, followed by several cups containing enough caffeine to help me sort out my kitchen. Have decided to root around in the cupboards and put away anything I haven’t used for a while to make more use of the space. I don’t know if it’s the best way to spend such a sunny morning but, now that I’ve decided to do it, I’ll be annoyed with myself if I don’t!

From yesterday’s posts – LYNZ – thanks so much for giving me the names of Anne Tyler-style writers! I’ve been wondering what to do once I’ve read all hers – the thought was quite scary! I’ll start looking out for them this week. I like to be at least four books ahead in my reading plan!
CRAZY – please tell me how you cope with 34 items on eBay all ending on the same day? I’m fairly new to the selling side of eBay – had eight items finishing on Thursday and it all became so manic, I had to walk away from it all and go make a cake! Sorted it out in the end but found it very confusing! Any tips would be gratefully received!
CSARINA – so sorry! Can we make it next weekend? Hope you really enjoy the lamb!
MOGGINS – Happy Birthday for TODAY!:bdaycake: :bdaycake:

Well, that’s it for now – DH is up and wandering around the garden with his cuppa looking at the pile of feathers made by the wood-pigeons who had a massive scrap yesterday – like something out of Rocky! Will describe it later!

Hope you all have a great day and will look in later. (((hugs))) to all who need or want one, hope all poorly people will feel better today, hi to all newbies and hope all pets are recovering well!

    Morning everyone!

Happy birthday Moggins, hope you have a fantastic day and do lots of things that make you happy.

The sun is shining and the sky is blue here in N.Ireland, so it looks like the weather forecast is true and it's going to be a fantastic day today. I'm already taking advantage and have a washer load of towels churning away. The two kitties refused their breakfast and have headed straight outside. It's lovely on a Sunday morning, so incredibly peaceful while the Saturday night revellers lie in bed nursing their sore heads.

Pink, have a fantastic time in London.

Think I will go and insert my nose back into my Deric Longden book, I'm loving it!

    Bye for now all.

    :hello: Goooood Morning all :D:D:D

Happy Birthday moggins hope you have a great day!

N9eav – hope your tum clears up soon, especially with your busy day ahead.

Hope you and Kyle find lots of bargains at the bootfair twink

Bit dull and damp outside right now, much cooler too, so I’m hoping it will cheer up a bit as the day wears on. No laundry to dry so that’s not an issue but I want to take a run out today to price up a new-to-me car. Much rather do it in the sunshine

D12yo had a fantastic time in France last week, but being away for a week has left him absolutely shattered so he’s having a well earned lie in this morning. ;) He’ll dominate the computer later doing work for his “diary” of his trip.
Seems I was a bit hasty in saying my Yr 7 didn’t have exams, he’s got them coming up after next week, so he needs to knuckle down to some revision.

On the home front, have some furniture being delivered tomorrow for one of the bedrooms. Disappointed it’s not all of it, but should get the rest in the next few weeks and I’ll still get a chance to slap a bit of paint on the walls and freshen it up a tad. Ordered from Argos online so I could get the double nectar points on orders before 30th April :j Any spare time today will be spent doing some hard core decluttering in that room!

B: Fresh fruit with yogurt and oats
    L: Tuna and salad pitta
D: Meatloaf with new potatoes and salad

    Enjoy your Sunday :D

    Morning everyone!

Moggins: Happy Birthday, have a good one!

Amie: Well done for resisting at the bbq yesterday. Heres some tips for your chinese buffet later so you can be as good as possible!

Do not have prawn crackers or rice crackers before your meal
Choose boiled or steamed rice, avoid egg-fried rice
Choose dishes which are stir-fried, not deep fried

    Healthy Choices
Clear broths like wanton, chicken & sweetcorn and hot & sour soups
    Grilled seafood and shellfish
Steamed, roast or stir-fried chicken, pork, fillet steak or seafood
    Stir-fried vegetable dishes
Bean sauces such as yellow bean or black bean sauce, oyster sauce, ginger and hoisin or plum sauce
Steamed or boiled rice or noodles
Extra vegetables including snow peas, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, string beans, beansprouts, bok choy, mushrooms and Chinese brocolli

    Foods to avoid
Deep-fried parcels such as spring rolls, wantons, sesame toasts and dumplings
    Duck, especially with skin
Deep-fried and battered chicken, pork or prawns
Nut-based sauces such as satay (peanut) or cashew nut sauces
Fried rice and deep-fried or crispy noodles
    Prawn crackers
    Banana or pineapple fritters

    Hope that helps!

Got relatives staying this weekend, so this may be all I have time for, hope everyone has a great Sunday!
    October grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):
    Asda - £11.98
    Aldi - £10.36

Parking pot: £1.00 (everytime I walk into town instead of parking on pay and display, I put the money saved in a jar)
