moaners don't like felow moaners. When with them, just moan, moan, moan, and they will leave you alone and look for another victim.0

Exactly this!
I have one person in my life who I love very much but blimey she likes to moan, so as soon as she rings and says "Hi" in this particularly flat, depressed way and I know she's going to moan - I start off immediately without drawing a breath. I even make up things. It pretty much gets her off the phone instantly! My mum does it to this person too :rotfl:
Funnily enough face to face she's very fun to be around but she only calls people when she's bored/ill/stressed etc.
Love her so much, having an urge to ring her and moan at her for a while nowSave £12K 2013 #54 - £4625/£15k£19,625 saved since 2011£50,000 by August 2014SPC #1925 £600 -

That is funny:rotfl:does she know you are doing it on purpose to get her off the phone?0 -

Honestly Victory I don't think she does, she must just think I'm the most boring person to speak to on the phone everIt's just that way she says "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" in this really drawn out flat tone and you know what's coming

Oh the irony...a thread where people are moaning about people moaning?
Oh I am always moaning me. I know a few moaners, but I love a good moan, Don't most of us?. It can be theraputic and theres plenty to have a moan about these daysThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
This is my Step-sister.
Just be really nice, happy and positive - it annoys the carp out them! My sister is always looking for someone to agree with her to justify that the moaning is acceptable. I don't take the bait.
Most moans end with "Don't you think..?"I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be0 -
My OH is a pessimist. I'm sure he wasn't when we met (I'm sure he used to make me laugh), but over the last few years he's become so hard to live with.
We're in the middle of renovating our house. We'll be starting on a garage conversion in the spring, which will require the moving of the downstairs loo by about 4 feet. Major problem!!!
Shed to replace garage space - major problem!!!
I could go on and on and on.............
Holidays ........
Children's after school activities.......
Him actually taking time off work....... (he's a JCB driver for goodness sake!)
I've now got to the point where I don't actually discuss anything personal with my friends because I know it would turn into a lengthy moan. I open my mouth sometimes and I'm dismayed at what comes out. I never used to be like this.
There's only so much moaning and pessimism a person can take.
If he actually took on some of the responsibilities of running the house it might take the pressure off me. He does do the taxi'ing around because I work evenings as a music teacher, but apart from that he hands his pay over on a Friday evening and everything else is down to me.
I've tried humour, sarcasm and despair but I don't think anything will work to change his personality.
Aside from all the pessimism and negativity he's actually quite a good partner - does help around the house when I ask (but I have to ask!), is quite able in household maintenance and emergencies, but his personality is so draining!
When we complete the garage extension it will be 2 storey and will give us an extra bedroom, and all I can think of now is that it will be an escape from the moaning and groaning (a bed to myself :j).
Anyone else got a partner who drags them down?0 -
My oldest daughter has always been a bit whingy but the last year or so she has become a right moaning minnie.. I just give her earache about being a whingebag and as if she ever does anything but moan.. and laugh at her of course..
I absolutely do NOT allow other people to bring me down, I struggle enough some days without their misery.
I do sometimes throw myself into the drama queen thing and take the mickey put of other peoples negativity whilst giggling in a manic manner with the appropriate arm waving and fake wailing..
Most people stop moaning pretty quick when they realise they have no audience. and those that don't, you don't need in your life.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
