Interesting article at DIY Investor this week to mark the fifth birthday of the LifeStrategy funds.

I've only had the 80 for about 16 months but very happy with it so far. No plans to do anything for years yet other than keep adding monthly and the odd lump sum.

I have some spare money at the moment and i think i will add to my VLS, even though i will not get as much for my money as the price has gone up a bit.

Already have used a full S&S ISA allowance.

Thinking of investing some of the money I cashed out recently from a FTSE100 tracker (invested mid feb right at the low, cashed out on the rise) into a longer term fun such as VGLS60 or 80 - about £3,400

Additionally I'd like to make small regular contributions on a monthly basis - circa £200-300. Is there a place I can compare platform rates? Probably looking to start around September.

NB, this is not a pension fund. It's to get enough to pay off the mortgage fund along with the 60k in savings and 65k in S&S ISA

Monevator is very good for this...

Compares a large number of brokers and lists what circumstances each is best for. (Also a very good investing blog.)

    Edit: Bother, ninja'ed :P

haha, funnily enough I was on there having a look already having tried to answer my own question.

I think I need to see how based on those stats what's cheapest over 10 years of regular investment assuming a 2-3% growth.

Try plugging your numbers into Snowman's Spreadsheet.

Unfortunately the link to a google drive file (from the link provided above) reports that the file no longer exists.

    A question for the experts:

given the current market conditions and short term performance of VLS80, does now look a good time to invest a large lump sum into the fund (~60k)? I know this is a long term investment, I just see the current 10ish percent rise over the past few weeks as something likely to be corrected before too long...

By the way, I'm already invested at about that level, this is for my OH - we has agreed that one of us would invest pre-referendum and one post- as a hedge against that market event...

I'm almost tempted, per my previous comment, to put it all into financials, ideally with a fund that has a decent FX hedge built in. Deutsche Bank trading at a third of book value seems like a steal (just one example)
