Unfortunately the link to a google drive file (from the link provided above) reports that the file no longer exists.
Sorry, I should have checked the link still works. That's a real shame because it was quite useful for providing a breakdown of various options and costs.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -

given the current market conditions and short term performance of VLS80, does now look a good time to invest a large lump sum into the fund (~60k)? I know this is a long term investment, I just see the current 10ish percent rise over the past few weeks as something likely to be corrected before too long...
By the way, I'm already invested at about that level, this is for my OH - we has agreed that one of us would invest pre-referendum and one post- as a hedge against that market event...
I'm almost tempted, per my previous comment, to put it all into financials, ideally with a fund that has a decent FX hedge built in. Deutsche Bank trading at a third of book value seems like a steal (just one example)
I've just put my isa allowance into ftse250 and some property as that seems like value now given the post Brexit drops
The recent gains on funds including lifestrategy are very much currency related and I think things will slowly correct back to higher levels, though how long that will take is something I don't know.
Interesting debate on the long term of decline of sterling against the dollar, and whilst there's no guarantees I think there are issues with most if not all the big economies. Also no one wants their currency too strong, so we'll see pressure against sterling falling too low from all of the major central banks.
Interesting point about deutsche though they are not looking strong at all, though let's not forget that the reason that Greece is being kept on their debt hook is as much about the debts owed to the big French and German banks as it is about the euro and contagion.0 -

Ah that's exactly what I needed!
If I'm going for Vanguard VS60 and I've got no wrapper - this is in addition to my ISA allowance I assume I'm choosing "funds" "1 fund" and "0 transfers" If I'm going to leave it in there for 10 odd years?Tim0 -

And that's the substantive part of my argument against putting a lump sum into VLS80 right now. My own personal view is that there will be pressure on all sides to strengthen the pound in the short term and at that point, there will be a significant correction in the fund pricing.
Anyway, I've decided to take my 10% and run, now to find a suitable alternative fund!0 -
I have a VLS in a ISA with charles stanley, can i buy some lloyds bank shares and place them with the VLS fund with no extra charges?
Also if i buy some lloyds shares through my ISA do i have to accept the price at the end of the day , or do i get the price at the time bought, say 10am?:T0 -

Do you mean can you buy them in your ISA?Also if i buy some lloyds shares through my ISA do i have to accept the price at the end of the day , or do i get the price at the time bought, say 10am?
Listed shares (and ETFs etc.) are traded instantly so you get the price at the exact time you buy. You sometimes get 10-15 seconds grace, but that's it, buy or don't buy.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Last I checked I believe there was a £20 a quarter charge for holding shares with charles stanley direct. Aswell as a £10 dealing fee.0 -

Ok Think i will forget the idea as i don't want extra charges, i will just buy more of the VLS fund and keep it more simple.

Hi.
I've got a small portfolio with IG but i'm notable to invest in vanguards lifestyle through them.
I've had a look at the comparison but i need a little guidance for a platform, i'm going to make a deposit of about £1500 to begin with and drop a monthly amount of £50-£100 in
Could someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of a platform that would be cheap to do this?
Many thanks in advance0
