I am mixed race and have always used the thin ghd but bought the wide genie and they have made my hair straight and shiny!!!... My daughter tried them and her friends thought she had been to the hairdressers!!! X

  • Did anyone who bought these get a conformation email after placing their order ? I ordered a pair of these and Friday but have had no email.
  • I ordered a second pair earlier and haven't had a confirmation e mail. I can't remember how long it took the first time sorry. i have been into my order status and it shows I have placed the order though.

Ordered these last Saturday, received on Thursday and used them for the first time today. Happy with the results, you can't adjust the temperature but at 210 deg they are a perfect heat for my hair. Which is thick and full of kinks, think Ronald Mcdonald if it dries on it's own. Absolutely brilliant bargain, performance matches if not beats that of my 6 yr old babyliss wide plates.

Got mine today, my hair is quite fine so am finding the temperature quite hot.

Think I just need to perfect my technique though i'm not a regular user ;)

Just thanked you Op :T, got my second one today - I've now got one wide and one thin set.

As above poster I have fine hair, never used straighteners before and find the temperature to be very hot.
Presumably I need to use a heat protect product - any (cheap but good) recommendations, folks?

Also, anyone with long fine hair - which is best - thin or wide? I have bought one for a present but can't decide! Thanks :)

I've been experimenting a bit more today and am very pleased with them.

I think the trick with fine hair is to use them after about a minute and then do your straightening quickly- don't wait 5 like I was doing because then you are starting from a very hot point. Also with fine hair, do as much hair as you can fit onto the plate at a time- don't skimp and only do a few strands.

They leave my hair very straight and shiny and i've only had a few quick goes with a little hair :)

Thanks for the tip, maybe that's where I'm going wrong as I ordered Monday morning and received yesterday!! Great service

Used them last night and just came down and sat and watched tv and by the time I went to bed it was a quite kinky so I wasn't very impressed really. Will try that this morning x
