Just ordered the 1" pink ones as a back-up pair to the wide plate ones I ordered last week, these straighteners are really really good. As others have said they glide through the hair and leave it with an added shine. I would never buy GHDs again based on these straighteners!

Thanks to the OP and all who have posted reviews.

I've always wanted GHD's but too pricey.

Been thinking about this for days and have finally ordered :D

I should check this board more often! Only saw this yesterday.

I bought the 1" straighteners from my local Sally shop on Monday. I hadn't seen this thread so just thought they would make a good spare set as others have said. After reading this, I thought I had better try them out.

Used them this morning and I am impressed, they really are good. I can never get the effect my hairdresser achieves with GHD's but this is the closest I've ever got on my own and I'm hopeless with hair.

Didn't think they would be very good at that price but glad I took the chance now.

That was a stroke of luck, stumbling across such a highly sought after item without even realising!

I tried in store at Hemel yesterday, trying to get wide ones to replace the faulty ones I got, but was way too late - apparently all 3 versions flew off the shelves there as soon as the promo started and some of the staff complained about missing out as they weren't quick enough!

Btw Sally Cust Services and the store staff told me they weren't aware of any known faults/issues and hadn't received any faulty returns back so it looks like I was extremely unlucky to receive a dodgy one. I've now ordered the pink ones instead so fingers-crossed I'll end up with a fully working set as they do straighten brilliantly.

I have a pair of GHDs at home, a spare pair at work. Now I have some wide plate Genie strighteners on their way..... Should I be ordering the 1" too?! So tempted, but do I NEED them?!!
  • I ordered my Genie Wide Straighteners last week and a pair of pink slim ones for my daughter. They arrived today but I was disappointed to find two pairs of slim straightners one black and one pink. Rang sally Customer service who said there had been a mix up at their warehouse and some people had received the wrong size straightners, however they could not exchange mine because they no longer have any stock left and will not be getting any more stock either :( I could return for a refund but have decided to keep for a present. Haven't tried them yet so hope I won't be disappointed when I do. Probably best to phone and check stock before placing an order. Thanks for the post though - price is fantastic :o
  • Mine arrived-pink 1" ones and tried them out last night. Ive used ghds for over ten years now and these "feel" like the older versions of ghds when using them-a bit chunkier and clunkier than the newer ones but do the job none the less :)
  • Ordered on Wednesday pm and they arrived today in a huge box ! Impressed with them thanks to the op for this heads up :)
