Like Jessops, too dear. Went in on the weekend looking for a Dymo D1 tape - nearly £20!!! less than £10 on Amazon.
My local Staples is closing it's doors next month, hardly anybody used it as there is a large Tesco Extra just over the road which is much cheaper for stationary needs.
Ryman stationary next?0 -
I wouldnt have bought them after they were close last time, nothing has changed at all as a business, once a company is close to the brink I think it is very difficult to make it back, especially in this climate.mrbrightside842 wrote: »Argh,we've got gift cards from there for Christmas.
Very unfortunate, I would shove them up on ebay0 -
When they anounced 25% off their items it was almost guarenteed.
Not only is saying 25% off everything like a death call to try and get enough money to survive, but if I was a supplier I'd be sure as hell worried about that because I know what I'm selling them to HMV for and I know that 25% will eat away at their margins to pretty much nothing so I'll ask for retention of title or more stringent supplier terms.
Then you get a HMV spokesperson to say "We just wanted to try something different than the usual January Sale" and that is just about the final nail in the coffin.
It really has been coming for HMV.0 -
According to a post on HUKD they stopped accepting Gift vouchers tonight.

Well, I had my eye on a £36 CD box set there, and I had £20 of vouchers from O2 Moments deals, plus a £5 off a £35 spend. So I went in today to get it, but it was reduced to £27.50 at the checkout. So I got another one too that was reduced from £12 to £9 to take it back over the £35. Looks like I just beat the closedown on the vouchers!
Very sorry to hear about the jobs going though - there were big queues in the shops I went to leading up to Christmas, so I thought they'd be OK. And I do like a music shop on the high street.
The unfortunate fact is though that the CDs they sold were too expensive, and the bottom has completely fallen out of DVDs.0 -
HMV said "The board regrets to announce that it’s been unable to reach position where it feels able to continue to trade outside of insolvency protection. Directors of Company understand that it is the intention of administrators to continue to trade whilst they seek a purchaser”0
