Suspended from work

dmg24 - Unfortunately it doesn't mention anything about how long an investigation can take. (To be honest it could take 'forever' and they wouldn't find anything incriminating which is what I find most frustrating).
I saw a couple of colleagues who explained that they had all been told I was suspended. This is the most embarassing part.
binty - Unfortunately all calls aren't recorded. Only notes made - which are available under DPA.
My mum asked today (she's getting on abit) why I was spending so much time at home at the moment (I live a short distance away with my family). I had to tell her - I'd kept it from her for nearly 2 weeks. She was furious. I thought at one stage she'd go storming down there - and I'm in my 40'sFortunately she calmed. I always think that people will believe there is no smoke without fire and my reputation is tarnished.

Hi,
Firstly i'm sorry for your troubles.
My remedy's/advice (for what its worth)
don't go to anymore meetings with them on your own, take someone with you, like you said there's three of them !!!!
Take a holiday:T They are paying for it
Fight them all the way
Find another job,cos you ain't gonna want to work for this lot anymore are you.
And change your nickname, your not in deep trouble, you have a minor problem with the company you used to work for.
How aboot "happytonotbeworkingforthem*******anymore"

Niccy. Firstly thanks for your input. I agree with a lot you say.
I can't really take a holiday as this may play into their hands. I will fight them though.................and yes in the near future I will start looking at a new job (I've started making some tentative enquiries) because as you say there is no future working for that lot anymore. In the meantime happy to get on with some work around the house (time I just didn't have previously). Outside looks great now - just started the living room now0 -
Yes, IDT, I don't think you should go away from home. You are only suspended and they could call you in at any time.
However, do take some time off from all your work about the house, don't overdo it. See some friends, go to a few local attractions (museums, parks, whatever you like).0 -
Just been reading this thread. I love your attitude IDT. I hope everything goes o.k and that you eventually find something even better! That'll show 'em!
In the meantime, enjoy your time off!"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
indeeptrouble wrote: »Thanks for all the encouragement and support. I went in to the meeting. There were 3 managers there - 2 from HR. They read the accusations out to me and showed me the calls that I was supposed to have cut off. Explained that I hadn't and was willing for 'them' or 'me' to call the cusomers in question back and ask them.
All three were totally 'gobsmacked'. I think they expected me to put my hand up and admit I was guilty (which I'm not).
They adjourned the meeting and said that they will be in touch. Their parting words were that we will need to investigate your 'comments' further and this will lead to a further investiagtion meeting, or reinstatement or a disciplinary meeting - 'we will be in touch'.
I'll let you all know what happens next. This is nearly 2 weeks off work at the moment.
Regards

Hi again babe - it's not surprising that they were gobsmacked. Managers don't relish going through the whole investigation procedure and so the likelihood is that usually the person HAS done what they are in a disc. hearing for. Often people do put their hands up in a meeting, especially people who usually do NOT do that kind of misbehaviour, and sometimes it comes out that they've done it but there are 'one off' extenuating circumstances. Especially gobsmacked because the one thing that they would not expect to hear you say is 'ring em up and ask them' - that is the ultimate statement of good faith and the last thing that they would ever expect to hear.
Please don't take it personally. Generally managers act in good faith. If they come to the conclusion that you didn't do it, there will be no 'there's no smoke without fire' mentality. They are being fair - they are going away to have another investigate off the back of what you told them.
Keep smiling and enjoy the paid time off now - you WILL get a fair hearing from what you've posted here0 -
Just been re-reading this thread - and it seems a trifle strange that a company felt it has sufficient evidence to take action, but wasn't in a position to come up with hard evidence at the hearing. Just a list of calls? What form did their evidence, if any, take? And if there wasn't any hard evidence, have you thought about writing to them saying that although they had two weeks in which to collate evidence, they failed to produce anything but allegations; and in view of that, you feel they should accept that they have made a genuine, though regrettable mistake, and reinstate you without delay; so that you can get back to doing the job you have been doing professionally and without complaint for ten years.

hi there
glad things are going 'ok' so far. it sounds to me like they haven't actually done any investigating. if they had, after they asked you that first question, they would then have produced a), b), c) etc as evidence. as they didn't, it sounds like they don't have any (and were hoping you'd incorrectly fess up).
sorry to ask again, but do you have a copy of the disp. procedure yet? as for them telling everyone that you have been suspended, is that allowed?
although they can't go on investigating forever, it is difficult to say how long is too long.
take care for now and let us know if you hear anything and what comes next after the lounge?;)0 -
sounds like they have nothing and just want you to leave, making their life easier.Nice to save.0

This is a positive course of action IDT. Even so you should still keep a written record of all dealings with this company and a diary of your stress etc and don't be afraid to involve your GP. Even if you decide not to go back and/or take another job their conduct already leaves them open to an industrial tribunal case for constructive dismissal.
What are they like? Your age and length of service makes you expensive as a candidate for redundancy - so what better than to try to intimidate you into leaving?
Good luck - try to stay focused - right would seem to be on your side.0
