Skint Breeder at 13 I was doing the washing, ironing and helping with the cooking! Mam was determined that both my older sis and myself would be able to run the house if we had to as both Mam and Dad worked long hours.

Skint - WTG Lady - well done on saying it, it needed to be done, hope you get it resolved today and that its not making you feel ill [er]

    Vali - thank you x

DH's back is getting worse, he can hardly stand - took him 20 mins to get out of bed this morn!! Doc's again on Monday, he doesn't know it but I'm starting to get really worried now, we thought it was a pulled muscle but this amount of pain and the fact that its getting worse sort of shows that it isn't, as for money, well I've given up worrying about it, if it isn't there they can't have it

Have tidied up areas this morning, about to cleatr a hotspot in the Kitchen

    Phew.

We braved the elements and went to dance and football. It wasn't that bad actually.

Seen a friend from up the street and said we might go play in the snow, but I've just had to send DS to his room.

Just loaded DW and done quick s&s of kitchen but that's all I've had time for today. Just snaffling my first cuppa now!

I don't think much flying will happen today, kids are being a nightmare so just trying to get through the day without doing anything illegal.

  • Good afternoon :D
Not much snow here at all - much to DS's disappointment!
DD2 had math's tutoring this morning, so we had a combined trip of tutor, long dog walk then shopping at Aldi.

DH is job hunting on t'interweb, DS is doing his homework. I have not done much :o I think I will make another cuppa, then look at my tax return & this tears accounts. My eyes are feeling gritty at the thought of it! I need to put a wash on. DH has taken over all cooking duties, and a lot of the cleaning :T Hall carpet needs scrubbing - again :mad: The cat may need a trip to the vet (although apart from weeing in 1 spot, she appears in good health), but as you know that money is very tight here :o
Oh and Skinty - where are you? I have a memory of you saying it's Southened, but I may be wrong...

I am in Southend, and I think MrsMortenHarket (sp?) is nearby. I think Skinty is in Essex, but at the other end? Possibly Clacton(ish)? I might well be the closest, but not close enough to offer help with the kids :(:(

Skint well done on telling the exMIL :) By the sounds of it she has 'disabled' her DD, as she appears to be not coping with motherhood :( That is hard, but unfortunately this is what happens when you don't teach children to be independant. It does them no favours in life! By the sounds of it, you are doing a brilliant job :) Can DD1 not come home for a little while, if she spoke to her course leaders and explained the situation? I really wish you were nearer, as i would gladly help with the kids - it's what I do! big (((hugs)))

Ok - I am going to put the kettle on. Does anyone fancy a cuppa?

Skinty If only I could drag my sorry disabled a$$ over to your place to help! :(

I have a reputation for scaring kids (and men):D but I think I'd be a breath of fresh air after what you've had to put up with!

Mr LW had to take his 4-year-old sister to school when he was 8, when him Mum was too poorly to do it, and it hasn't left him feeling deprived of his childhood!

lol Apparently, one time they had his Auntie Doris come and stay - his Mum was poorly, and his Dad had just had a heart attack - and she made everyone pitch in, even the littlest sister was expected to do what she was capable of - and when she tried to refuse, she was called a "wumpy-jack" and a "wiggly worm" by Auntie Doris.:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Been out sledging with DS3,my lovely neighbour, her DD and 2 other neighbours kids.

DS1 cleared the driveway and path for me, we are on a corner so driveway is long and out onto an ungritted T junction. I have just driven DS2 to work and got some supplies, main road is a bus route so fine.

Just having another cuppa then hoovering the rug to put outside and a HHC in the DR and kitchen whilst DS3 is on DS2's PS3.

Just starting to snow a little bit here.

  • I'm back

Was a bit longer than HH, wasn't I?

I stripped the bed, changed my mind from broccoli and stilton soup and roasted a butternut squash and a pepper instead and then turned it into soup with a bit of LO Danish Blue crumbled into it and served it with a whoopsied Olive ciabatta I found in the back of the freezer. Blimmin gorgeous and because they'd all worked up an appetite in the barn, a full pan has been decluttered!

Kids have now been deposited into town (DD at the Theatre with Brownies and DS met up with his mates in the park with their BMX's). The dog has been round the park and down by the river.

Have done WM x 3, TD x 3, defrosted salmon for tonight which we'll have with broccoli and I've parboiled and roasted some spuds. Also done the same with 2 bags of parsnips and they are on baking sheets in the freezer chilling down to be bagged up before I go to work.

Off to remake our bed now and run the hoover around upstairs before having a shower.

    Another HH anyone? 3.15 - 3.45?

Skinty well done for standing up to ex MIL and well done for bringing up your children learning to be independent and useful; they will get far more out of life, not to mention being useful and active members of society. I don't think I'm near enough to help although I'm near the Essex border. Happy vibes anyway.

Not much personal flying for me this morning but I've been serving refreshments and washing up at our village New Year Sale and coffee morning. It had the added bonus to getting rid of a bit of clutter as I had a couple of things I've never used which are now happily with new owners and not in my kitchen drawer.

OH has "emptied" kitchen windowsill, removed cobwebs and cleaned the kitchen windows so we can see our feathered friends better. I've put out more food, yet again, and been rewarded by visits from the Fairies (long tailed tits), 3 redpolls and the usual mix of goldfinches, bluetits, robins, black birds, chaffinches, great tits and starlings to name but a few. My next task is to sort out some of the plants from the kitchen windowsill - a couple are deceased and a couple need re-potting (I know it's too early really, but I have a Christmas cactus bought fairly recently that keeps falling over, its pot is so small).

I also plan to tackle 2 very long-standing tasks - sewing tie-backs for the study curtains I made a year ago, and sewing buttons on some items I knitted for a charity and which are sitting in a box on the lounge floor. 2 tasks for while I'm watching Winterwatch 1963 I think.

Loads more tasks up for grabs, but if I sit here and list them all I won't ever get them done (is that the main idea?).
