Morning everyone. Another busy paid stuff day today so I'm only doing dailies and remainder of yesterday's list if I get time.

Wipe upstairs door handles (partially done)
    Change our bedding
    Hoover our bedroom

Next week will be a completely different routine for me so not sure how much flying will get done, but I feel ok about it as the house is looking pretty good at the moment.

Have a great day everyone. I'll probably pop in tomorrow.
Spend less now, work less later.

  • Good morning ladies! I have a very large frog to eat, and am itching to get on with it. However, I can;t start until 9am, when my sister is back from the school run, and I can call her. So I'll be in the kitchen until then.
PenPen - love the sound of your knitting group, must get my needles out again

You should :D I'm trying to use up the odd balls in my box to make socks, so always have my needles and a half-finished sock in my bag :rotfl:
Hope you enjoy the Hobbit LW - I loved it, but my knees had seized up by the end of the film - it is a tad too long...

Good news is there are a further 2 films :eek::eek::eek: What were they thinking of expanding that slim volume into 3 feature films *shruggy man smilie*

  • Morning everyone

Macpep No worries, Diabetes is one of those chronic conditions that people brush under the carpet as "mild" , but I can assure you there is nothing "mild" or forgiving about diabetes!

I had gestational diabetes with DS, but was told at the time Mature Onset diabetes was in my future at some point, and I have been very good with my food intake and getting my annual blood work done around his birthday.

The special blood test they do shows how the pancreas has been processing sugar in the six months previous to the test - the one in Nov 2011 was fine, but when I felt unwell with a "syrupy mouth" I did a home blood test and found I was high. But when AF pays a visit to the Skint Ritz she stays for 8 weeks at a time, packs her bags for 3 or 4 days, then comes back for another 8 weeks or so and so it goes :mad::mad: (sorry if TMI), which allegedly can happen when menopause is approaching and AF starts to have a bit of a hissy fit and being the wrong side of 40, I just thought, ok looks like I am Mature by default :D:D:D so I did a preg test just to rule it out before going to GP and found evidence of the little Skints presence :eek::eek:

Because of the bleed in progress and the high sugar little Skint's future looked bleak, but they put me on meds in 24 hours with the view that the quicker I could get good control the more hopeful the outcome. As the test came back that I had been suffering Mature Onset diabetes for at least six months without being diagnosed and as I couldn't get tight control within a fortnight, I volunteered to go on insulin sooner to give her the best chance (even though I HATE needles, a phobia that I had to get to grips with to save DS)

It was not long after that I was told all the evidence pointed to the fact that Skint Baby was initially identical twins sharing a peanut shaped placenta, and the weaker twin suffered the ultimate price in the prolonged bleed and high sugar, but the enlarged placenta that created gave Skint Baby a better chance.

Having had DS with a very late diagnosis with Gestational Diabetes where we both got very poorly, he had to come at 36 + 2 to save us both, and was in SCBU for two weeks before he was allowed home. A birth weight on 10lb 4oz meant he was too heavy to inflate his small little lungs.:(:(:( hence the long stay

Cycling Yorkie Skint baby has faired better because of being aware of danger signals and less general pregnancy complications in mid to late pregnancy I am entering the final straight in a better physical state. Skint Baby is 38 weeks today, but because of DS complications I had to have the Paed Team on hot standby in Theatre for my section, the first section date I could get for all the teams where I am guaranteed to be 1st section of the day (barr break neck emergencies, my Hospital policy is all planned sections with Diabetic mothers are first one of the day, because of the tight drugs schedule that has to be adhered to overnight) so Monday put me at 38 + 3.

At the last measure, Skint Baby's chest and abdomen were 6 weeks ahead, but the internal organs were normal sized for dates, which sadly means she is also going to have trouble using her little lungs to keep her oversized chest inflated, so I am preparing for a rough ride in SCBU, but hope to be home sooner than I was with DS as she will have had an extra fortnights brewing time.

I did all of my tests throughout the night, but found sleeping in between very difficult except for the stint between 5am and 7am when I found myself hitting snooze - but being allowed to do the correctional doses with permission beyond the normal maximum has given me within range at 3am, 5am and 7.20ish am....I am hoping that will show hospital that when I have my hands untied I can do it.....and that it is worth me coming home again tonight and keeping the correction doses going.

But I will not be getting any of my "good food" out of the freezer to defrost today for tea tonight.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: as my Dear Old Dad used to say "You don't keep a dog and bite yourself!":D:D:D

Flying wise, I did a very very small amount while preparing my overnight snack (10g of cornflakes with a splash of milk!) and a cuppa, DW was fed, sinks had a bleach soak...a good S&S including, cooker hood, cooker top and cooker doors :mad::mad::mad:, and put away all the stray stuff that EX MIL has left strewn around - she WILL have to look for it in its PROPER place and hopefully that will help inprint on her where it SHOULD go back after its finished.:eek::eek::eek: All my lovely printed lists of what is in what trug, and what goes in what cupboard were a waste of trees and ink - no use whatsoever to CBA syndrome persistent re-offender.:mad::mad::mad:

Going down for some breakfast now and more tea.....need to restock the dishwasher trug with some more DW tablets in case I don't come home after todays [STRIKE]bore hole in my leg[/STRIKE] steroid injection

DS is still asleep at the moment after "breaking out" of my room where EX was oblivious to the fact he had escaped, looking all around the house for me because he thought I had "run away" :(:(:(....part of me wanted to snuggle him up with me in DD2 bed, but I had all meds, sharps and paperwork all laid out carefully so in theory I could put my hands on everything quickly without waking myself up too much each time and get back to sleep quickly :eek::eek:, didn't quite work out that way......although I am sure exhaustion will bring slightly more success in that department tonight, IF I am allowed home again :D:D:D

Good wishes and vibes being dispatched from the Skint Ritz now in case I don't get back on - polished spoons will be in the jar, please help yourselves :D:D:D
