Had a shock this weekend. Turned round in the chair I was sat in to see a huge (for me) cucumber had formed & grown on the ladder! Already about 7 inches long! Very pleasing. Lots of other little fruits on there - so very hopeful.

Have emptied & eaten a tub of carrots. Made some lovely salads, as well as some carrot & leek soup.

Still waiting for my first tomato!
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Think we might have to organise a search party to look for MBE. Not been seen again since 27/07. Perhaps we should erect higher fences to stop him escaping.:)

Probably off gallivanting again for wedding/stag do/ birthday or his other interest ;)

Can't believe it's still not finished but only because hubby has decided to alter the drainage on the flat roof a bit so ignoring that here are some pics of my nice new shed :D

Don't do subtle colours, stands out a mile but the neighbours love it too
Sorry the pics are so big, I hate photobucket recent changes.

Other news; the drivers door window decided it had had enough of sitting in the same place yesterday and when it went up, 1/2 of it overshot by 6" Hubby fixed it by floodlight last night, well it is 21 years old, just hope it doesn't do it again when it has it's MOT in a couple of weeks. And my tooth abscess has come back :( off to dentist tomorrow.

Back on topic, I'll be amazed if I don't get some blossom end rot this year, the tomatoes are drying out quicker than I can water them, could do with 3 per day really. My 3 courgette plants had 12 male flowers between them this morning and 1 female, lucky girl I hope! I've used up all the others now.

Think I've taken up enough space on this thread today :o

Just in case MBE is around a reminder that the perseid meteor shower is due http://www.cute-calendar.com/event/peak-of-perseid-meteor-shower/6198-world.html

Wonder if the BNS got so big an attacked him! Thinking little shop of horrors :D
My parsnips survived the attack and are putting out new leaves :)

In picture 3 above you can see a silver birch tree in the park at an angle, it fell over today. Shame it wasn't the massive sycamore on the left :(

I'm still here, but not had much time recently, sorry. I'm away this weekend too.

I've got a couple of nice little squashes coming, and most other stuff is doing ok although my runner beans aren't setting. Need to tackle a bed of turnips that's shading out other stuff. Lots of jobs, not enough time!
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

This squash is really taking over. There are actually three planted quite close together - a patty pan, BNS and a Marina di Chioggia which is the big one. It starts in the second bed down from the greenhouse. I've had to drag it round onto the lawn to stop it choking everything towards the greenhouse, and other end of it is in the raspberries up the fence, the other side of the potato bed.

This is really an allotment vegetable. :o

This might be the year of the squash. :)
