D&DD whilst your garden looks fine in those pics, it's even better in real life.
Having seen the night times temps for the coming week (down to 5c) , I've decided not to risk everything out, wouldn't have enough fleece to cover them all. Can we go back to the 90's please when everything was out by the end of April, I miss that
Went to Wilkinsons to get some aluminum oxide paper (bargain for under £3) only to see all bulbs/perennials etc down to 75p. So £15 later I now have a massive bag of flowers,1 pkt garlic and I've risked another 75p white raspberry, which failed last year. But having seen that D&DD has some I thought I'd try again.
They also had several types of rhubarb, asparagus, and strawberries if anyone needs them.
I've got yet another item of bedroom furniture to sand down and get a coat of paint on before I get out into the garden. The paint can dry whilst I potter0 -
I hate sawfly my standard gooseberry always get ps eaten. It's looks brilliant right now but it's full of the little worms. I have sprayed it but its just a standard bug spray doesn't mention sawfly does it need to.

Wow, that is busy! It looks fabulous.
How big is the greenhouse? It looks pretty wide.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
aw shucks thanks Annie
MrB It's an Elite Belmont and it measures approx 8ft 5" wide with high eaves too as we're all around 6 footers here didn't want banged heads!
Sadly it's the biggest I could fit so only 4 feet deep but it's brill.
I did a hell of a lot of research before settling on this one as you can see our garden is not your average shape or size so a 'normal' greenhouse wouldn't have been any use
I must say its perfect for what we needed apart from wanting a 24 foot long one..:rotfl:0 -

I use Provado Ultimate Bug Killer, diluted 50/50 with water. :money:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Thank you so much D&DD!!! Your garden's fantastic! I only have about 25 m2 at the back of the house, and a very exposed open little new built front garden, but it has officially become my cutting and herb garden this year. I think I need to get to grips with the vertical gardening thing, difficult because my house is rented and I don't want to make too many holes in the fence. The shed is ours, but is mostly in shade. Think I'm going to plant up some pallet gardens of salad crops and leafy greens for propping against it, which should be ok in shade.
I had second thoughts about the tommys this aft, because I noticed that the ones in the grow house were looking a bit coldI now have all the tommys, cuccys and three hanging baskets back in my utility room  good job DH isn't back for a fortnight, hopefully it'll have warmed up by then
Picked up a sorry looking Aubergine in b&q for 20p, hopefully it'll be ok. Also got the kohl rabi sown this evening and transplanted the leek seedlings into the big raised bed, so a fairly productive day0 -
MrB I remember you raising it up it makes such a difference doesn't it
high eaves that is!
Molly ooh walls and shed sides are very handy..Our strawberries are mainly on the walls and grow very well there as the heat stays in the wall and helps ripen them quicker.
Every post has a hanging basket or two on it as has the eaves..and the front garden is slowly being 'borrowed' from my husbands flowers.
I now have a raised herb bed out there, gooseberries, potato sacks and the courgettes will line the drive in their buckets later.
If you choose varieties that are attractive too it helps,I grow crimson flowered broad beans out the front as the flowers are lovely, lipstick pink swiss chard and curly kale, green and red. They look nice in amongst his nibs' roses and my calendulas.0 -
Having just read the BBC monthly weather report I may sow some rice and get the courgette brolly out again and knit it a jumper too this year!
Depending on which web site you read I have lows of 1c-5c this week, I so wish I had a greenhouse sometimes. Whilst it may be slightly dryer than this time last year, it's colder. Wish I could turn the clock back 10 years so much easier to grow then.
Good news I have parsnips seed leaves, bad news they're not in the cones
. This I assume is due to the cats using the area as a toilet when first done. I was tempted to dig up and relocate, but wonder if sowing a fresh would be best? I could chit indoors if needed to speed things up?
I've got a few tough toms out there blowing around in the wind, they're still growing new leaves so are ok. Must go and see if the Q has survived, it's been down to 5c and windy, can't quite see it with the binoculars from the warmth of the study0
