Or should that be try and failed, opps! Thanks John
MBE does far to much galavanting around these days.
Hay fever is BAD today. Out for no more than 3 mins and had to come back in and wait for pills to work
Been to homebase and bought a bag of manure for runners and squashes. Did try to get to the local garden centre but due to roadworks I gave up after 15 mins. Homebase have 20% all gardening stuff till Monday if anyone needs anything, so now normal price rather than overpriced. Spotted a tray of 20 spring onions for £2, cheaper to buy grown ones from the supermarket, but folks seem to buy them for some odd reason.
Got back late from aunts last night and forgot to cover outside toms but they seem fine so will put them in their final pots today with fleeces on stand by if needed.
Hubby got called to do emergency cover a work this morning so redoing some of the cones myself. Well can't be that hard now as he's done the hard work already, I hope0 -
Been cold here but got better this afternoon. Repotted everything that needed it in the greenhouse and really need to get stuff outside its just so windy I need to leave it a bit longer.
Sown some more basil (first lot died too cod in greenhouse) some dild ( needed for Scandinavian cooking) and some more peas.
Still need climbing French beans but bought a pot with 5 broad beans in them. Want to grown them in a deep pot with flowers not sure it will work.
Mowed the lawn new grass patches are growing and washed the car. Off to Thuxton with friend to watch the Touring Cars.
Went to a couple of garden centres got a new watering can a Haws metal one super expensive but I keep buying plastic ones and they blow away or get ruined. Also got compost. I think one of my blueberry s are dead sadly.
Hope you all get lots dine this weekend and that the weather is kind.Save £12k in 25 No 49

The ground here still really dry so watered my patch, fruit cordons, raspberries and recently planted cherry and plum. Sowed spring onions, beetroot and radishes inbetween over wintered onions and fruit bushes. Planted up hanging baskets (surfinias) but will keep in greenhouse for now. Hopefully will try to pot up strawberry runners tomorrow.Books - the original virtual reality.

watered under the polytunnel today, & saw evidence of those vile slugs!
Been busy pottering otherwise - 2nd batch of tomatoes planted (can see the shoots of 2 plants in the first tray planted!:))
Planted more beetroot in a large tub. Planted a few more carrots and onions.
Also planted out 3 hanging baskets for colour & bee encouragement. Noticed that the flowers I planted in the 3 trays a few weeks ago are now also starting to come through.:)
Been using some of the "home made" compost too for the first time.:)
Only thing with no movement at all, is the ginger...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I have had a great day outside and having OH home, dragged him off the garden centre for *hopefully* last lot of soil for my courgettes, toms and peppers. Most are big enough for their final pots so I can get a bit more organised.
Found some caterpillars already so the nematodes are going on tomorrow and the gooseberries are getting a derris spray, its either that or everything will be stripped overnight
I highly recommend the nematodes we had no vine weevil last year for the first time ever,ok maybe they can't swim that well but I still think it was the nematodes.
I use the vine weevil one and the grow your own one once then add a slug one later if need be but don't usually need to.
Hoping for another good'un tomorrow as we're due rain tuesday so if I can get finished outside it'll water everything in nicely.0 -
Another non gardening day for me. All day at family birthday after having checked in on aunt and manic clean up for mother in laws visit tomorrow.
My toms are fine outside, so too the courgettes and french beans and I've left a runt of a cucumber out to see if it copes OK.
Everything probably needs watering but it's pitch black now so that's off.
Looking forward to Tuesday lunchtime when she leaves, in the nicest possible way, so I can get some more stuff sown. And really looking forward to Wednesday with D&DD0 -
:j Likewise Annie !
I have loads of seeds to have a rummage thru if you fancy any weird ones..
I have potted on my first sown cukes into their final pots and left them (fleeced) in the greenhouse for the night too,I have left some Cream Sausage toms outside too for a trial.
The courgettes I left out seem fine and its just getting silly now the amount of backlog waiting for perfect conditions so they will have to take their chances and I can always fleece if need be.
I just ordered a patio pear so much for no more room..but it was a good offer0 -
I'm hoping to potter in my garden tomorrow, mostly removing dandelions and turning in some improver into the clay clumps, but I hope to sow some more seeds into my lovely little cold frame. Hoorah!0

Beautiful weekend. Got back to find everything's been fine in the greenhouse while I've been away; lots of things look ready for planting out.
Found my first sawfly of the year though, so I've had the spray out.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
MBE - you will be proud of me. I have a very full cold frame of things all neatly potted and labelled, a de-dandelioned flower bed, reviving strawberries and AND I did it all without huffing and puffing and moaning or squealing at creepy crawlies.
Can I please have a medal?0
