busy day today, emptied 3 compost bins over the garden, bean poles up and beans planted, all before 1 O'Clock
and the dog walked as well.
Have to get the hose pipe out this pm, my garden is so dry and because of our water bills here, the hose doesn't get used very often.
Hope your all having a good gardening dayTreat other's how you like to be treated.

Annie lets say next wednesday then I'm free any of those days and I know you're busy so don't worry if we have to change it
I'll bake cake:D hope your family are ok XX
Need to get the rest of the tomatoes out into the greenhouse so I can pot on the peppers etc there's never enough hours this time of year is there?Little_Vics wrote: »ooh, rhubarb. That's something I want to grow.
Such lovely weather but I've only been able to water the garden, naff all else, but Saturday morning is free for a few hours so going to get a few things sown then.
My aunts garden is 60 x 40 lawn with 1 tree and a few pots. I have a desperate urge to dig large chunks of it over and plant things but she likes it like that as other than mow it, it's maintenance free. Waste of a great growing area.
My neighbour has had (homebase purchase) 3 toms, french and runner beans and a Q out for the last 3 nights to see how they coped......and they're fine albeit with a fleece over them at night, so mine are staying out from Saturday.
This means I can pot the toms on to final pots then the chilis can move up to the tom pots for a few weeks.
Quick look tonight and no sign of runners or parsnips yet.
My courgette had a massive flower open this morning when I went to take them out for the day, poor things must be so stressed in small pots still. Might sow another couple in a few weeks in case they run out of energy.
My potatoes planted in tubs in March are desperately in need of earthing up, leaves 3" above the top of the bucket, and the recent ones planted in the ground are up too.
Leeks are going to be a little late in this year due to late spuds out, but cant think of anywhere else to put them, unless it's in a pot and I'm not sure that would work.
Massive amount of blossom on the mini cherry and apple tree and hopefully, as the weathers nice, plenty of insects too. Unlike last year when I watched the wind and rain knock them off as fast as they opened.
My strawberries have blossom too, bit later than normal but earlier than last year:)0 -
I had to do a bit of watering tonight as the ground was looking very dry. Broad beans are coming up a treat as are the toms. Now have two dalek compost bins, as we set up a new compost bin at the weekend and managed to empty our old one on my little patch. Also have two new waterbutts so will hopefully have those set up this weekend as well as potting up some strawberry runners from last year. So with beans, toms, cucumbers, aubergines and courgettes on the go I now need to think about salad leaves, radishes and spring onions. Hope the weather holds up.Books - the original virtual reality.

I've been watering for the last couple of days too.
I'm away again this weekend, back Sunday night so after tonight everything will have to take its chances in the unheated greenhouse. I think it should be just warm enough.
Annie, would you mind keeping an eye on things for me? Cheers. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I think I've got sunburn on me nose :rotfl:
It's beautiful here today so have been busy planting out more stuff and potting on..dug up some parsnips that reappeared (even tho I had none germinate or so I thought last year go figure..)
Garden is looking really productive despite the bad weather we had and the cold nights.
I've had to pot some of the heirloom toms into their final pots!
Have planted out a courgette today I have loads of seeds so if it dies its no biggy but most years we're lucky here with early ones.
Annie lovely will look forward to it,you may have to take a few tomatoes with you too :rotfl:
One of the josta cuttings has fruits on it as do some of the gooseberries!
Looking like its going to be a fab year for fruits *whoop*
Now if only my rhubarb would get going its still so straggly and I can't work out why?0 -
Come on Annie, we're down on the second page and you're in charge. :-))0

went to buy some rhubarb today but it wasn't cheap! Am going to see if anyone local to me will give me some.
My radishes appear to be doing well. I've also been given a courgette plant which will be interesting!
It's a bit frustrating here though - we need to pull down some ivy and rebuild a fence, which will mean trampling all over my veg bed. So, I've not planted anything out yet (not even spuds!) but am getting itchy fingers. I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and do it all in containers this year instead which we do the necessary construction work.
My peonies are thriving though, which makes me happy.
