Am I missing something 'political' here? Why are various people having a go at the OP who from the stats seems to be a longterm respected member?
Read his responses. He asked a question, got an appropriate answer and called it unhelpful even though he then followed it. He then called it rude and patronising.
Its bad enough when a Newbie posts such things in an arrogant tone but you do expect more from a longstanding member. Well I do anyway! People who come on here and offer advice do not do so to be patronised.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

Never used to be like this.
People used to have more tolerance for personal differences/choices.
It's now very much a case of 'you should do as I do'. (Not aimed at you specifically stclair, just a general observation of the site these days). 'If you act in a manner that is different to one I would choose, I will patronise/ridicule or just be rude to you.
If you try to pull me up on my ridicule, or try to defend your action, I will ignore any point you may have or any other information you may offer as to why you chose the action you did, and I will be even ruder.'
That seems the sad (general) reality.
Not to worry. I'll know the next time not to ask.

He is a she.
stclair's opening response was 'have you thought...........'?
That was patronising.
It was possible to get the same message across by not patronising.....'best to phone directly to check as my experience is that different companies have different policies'.
Yet he/she chose the first.
I responded.Herman - MP for all!

Unless I have missed something, you are the one complaining that things aren't done the way you want to have them done. Are you therefore now complaining about yourself? It's now very much a case of 'you should do as I do'.
stclair's opening response was 'have you thought...........'?
That was patronising.
That's how you perceived it, others saw absolutely nothing wrong with stclair's quick response to your original Q.0 -

Thanks for clarifying.
I thanked it because I usually thank everyone who responds to a thread I start, whether I agree with them or not. It's an acknowledgement of the time taken, if you like.
However, as the thread went on I decided to break with my usual courtesy as it was clear there was little courtesy being afforded to me.
I have to ask....do you accept my point that your initial comment was patronising?
Not that it matters in the slightest now, I think we've all moved on, but I'd be interested in your (honest?) feelings when you originally posted?Herman - MP for all!

No sorry it was merely have you thought/considered giving your bank the circumstances then allowing them to answer your query accordingly with them being the company involved.
It was not being patronising at all, in my own opinion in the time you took to post and wait for replies you could have just called the bank and got a definitive answer.
Im know it may not be the response you want to hear but, the issues you have with MSE is that every poster has their own opinion.
So what would have happened if I had said yes itll bounce back to your account, then someone else comes along and say no it wont it be retained in their suspense account until its claimed.
So you still would have been non of the wiser so who would you have believed. So the best course of action would have been to actually ask the bank themselves.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
