So why ponder/worry all night and then post on a forum. When by far the quickest answer was to pick up the phone and call the party concerned.
Oh my. You're adding on your own heads and tails now.
Where did I say I 'pondered/worried all night'?
I said I had got little sleep. That is not the same thing. In your particular case, it probably took longer to turn on your PC, login to the forum and type your question than it would have done to just pick up the phone.
Really?
My laptop was on the bedside table beside me, switched on. I had been working on it during the night.
I woke up, realised I'd forgotten to cancel the s/o, quickly posted on here before heading for a shower, breakfast, the study and the phone.
I asked on the off chance someone knew.
I wasn't planning on taking *just* any advice without checking.
Yet you have all formed interesting opinions based solely on assumption.Herman - MP for all!

So what stopped you from sleeping then....My laptop was on the bedside table beside me, switched on. I had been working on it during the night.

So you could have gone onto their internet banking and cancelled it or set a secure message asking this very question.
Once again someone tries to wiggle out of something :rotfl:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

How incredibly rude.
What makes you think that is any of your business?
I'm not wriggling. I'm incredulous at some of the replies.
Your last one has just proved you are simply out to be contentious so I'll leave you to it.Herman - MP for all!

So to summarise:

St Clair I am surprised you bother with the OP. For someone who has made so many posts on this forum he seems to lack manners.
I found it quite amusing that he had in fact not bothered to contract his bank and just fired off a posting, then starts to call others rude and patronising for pointing it out. I automaticallyput such people on ignore.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

Yes thank you.
I called them once I was up and on the go.
The s/o will automatically bounce back, as suggested earlier in the thread.

I'm honestly very, very baffled at others commenting on my choice of action.
It's clear other people would not have done what I did, but having used MSE as a good source of information for many years, this genuinely did not seem a strange course of action to me.
Rest assured I will not be making similar enquiries here again, so hopefully that will assuage those who felt I was wrong to do so.We did. And then you came back.
Ok. Fair enough.
Bit surprised at the one sided attitude but I'll take it on the chin.Herman - MP for all!

Am I missing something 'political' here? Why are various people having a go at the OP who from the stats seems to be a longterm respected member?"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Rude is as Rude does.
You asked a question on a open forum.... That makes it ALL our business
As I said you would have got a quicker answer going to the source and less grief.

I think I've missed something too, it all seems completely unnecessary. The OP is not the first to ask a question on here that could have been answered directly by the bank.0
