Hi Kodagirl and welcome to the board.
Sounds like you are going well. It is a shame about the washing machine but these blips happen ever so often.

Well, its been a 'mixed NSD' today, ordered me washing machine,£219,for a Whirlpool, but saved £29.98,on taking the old one,and fitting new one, neighbour taking it for scrap, and ex,is coming to fit it,after me flattering me eyelashes!!!:kisses3:
Every little helps, may have to add me little saving to me little money box!!;)

Apart from that, spent not one single penny today, funny how, when you start a mission,so to speak, you find a new 'respect' for pennies,i have anyway, these days,i would have no shame in picking up a little brown 'penny',as they say,'see a penny, pick it up,all day long you will have good luck!!' :)

    Ooooh,i say,ive just noticed,ive got a little star now,Yipeeee!!!! What does it actually mean,though?

    NSD today,i love them,its like a little achievement,im easy pleased!!!:D

Thinking of setting up a 'Mortgage Overpayment Calculator Anonymous' group, for people like me,obsessed with imputting different figures,to find out how many years/months i can wipe off my mortgage!!!! :rotfl:

Just wish i had started this malarky earlier!!! Does anyone else find the 'mixed' reaction, when they tell people what they are aiming to do? I know it doesnt matter what other people think, but im just miffed, ive had friends say, good for you,and ive had some 'laugh' yeah,we will see whos laughing, when im free from this massive debt, and have security!!!:D

Hi, just popping in to say hello and say I couldn't agree with you more. I've tried to bring up the subject with a couple of friends but generally get blank expressions so I've given up now. I'd love to show them how much fun they could have with the calculators and spreadsheets (and it's free too!) but after the initial reaction think it's best just to leave it. If you set up your support group I would definitely be an ideal candidate :T

    Hi,AG!!!
Could you picture it,standing in a room,'I am a mortage overpayment calculator addict'!!! Ha Ha!!!
What a great addiction to have though, the only one to benefit you in the long run.

Its the security i crave,my Dad is a compulsive gambler, over the years, ive seen them lose homes, cars, its been awful, they are 60,this year, and privately renting,it breaks my heart, all them years working and nothing to show for it,they should be in a mansion by now,and looking forward to taking things easy in retirement years, and its made me a worrier, not that i am a gambler, but i crave the security we never had growing up.

Got an expensive month ahead, car tax due,£170
    Kennels for Benidorm weekend £150
    Spending money £200
    2 Dogs needing boosters £130
Savings account needs a boost, currently down to £250,normally £1000 atleast,
    MOT due in March,too,

2 free council tax months will help, and ive got my free month coming up,so that will be £1250,most of that is going towards paying of my loan,to pay it off in Apr14.

I must admit,i dont do budgeting throughout the year, for those things,i just pay them as they come, ive always managed touchwood, never had an overdraft, never had a credit card, the loan, deary me,was for a Hot Tub,i gave up smoking, and thought i would treat myself, the money i was spending on cigarettes,i'l spend on a Hot Tub,i work hard, all unsocialble hours, one day im up at 0230,next im home at 0330,maybe i shouldve saved, but its done now,i am lucky i have a good job, although,no job is for life these days, and thats why ive seen the light,
Mortgage,........ i am going to obliterate you!!!:D

  • For me it's about the choices I have when it's done with. I have a great job but the opportunity to decide to maybe go four days a week (or less!) without having to earn a certain amount of money to cover the mortgage is a great incentive. My OH is a bit older than me and is already retired so I would love to be able to be home more with him.

I'm the same with the budgeting and the annual extras (although I have got them on a spreadsheet so I can't forget about them). I have a small loan on my car (was 3 years interest free so I kept my cash in the bank!) but that finishes in March so some extra for the mortgage savings pot but I do buy just about EVERYTHING on my credit card. I pay it off each month in full and it earns me points which I can cash in for stuff. I've not yet decided what to cash last years in for but last time it was M&S vouchers so I had a grocery spend free month in January and got the Christmas treat things - and all for free :D.

Last year I started to use an app on my phone which I record all credit card/bank things in and I'm now starting to see the benefit - I CAN see what I've spent on groceries etc every month BUT I haven't actually had a stern talking to myself - yet! I'm saving now for my April overpayment - pay day can't come quick enough so I can move some cash around - and of course add it to the spreadsheet.

Thank you for listening, my name has been Anna Glypta and I'm a Mortgage Overpayment Calculator Addict :rotfl:

    Thank you,MCI!!! :)

    AG,you may sit down now!!!!:D
Im glad it isnt just me,that doesnt budget for them sort of things throughout the year,so many people on here seem so much more organised than me!!!

Soon be March, then you will be free of one ball and chain, thats great that its been interest free though!!
I am in awe of your willpower with your credit card, when i was with an ex,he got a credit card,we bought a dining table and chairs, and a sideboard for the dining room, with the intention of paying it off, when we got paid, before we knew it we had £2000 on it,we ended up getting a loan to pay it off,it put me off them for life,as he kept the credit card, and started building it up again,im not sure i would trust myself!! That point system is great for you though!!!

The phone app thingy, sounds good, but technology and i dont go,my phone is a brick, and i was glad at that when my puppy killed my £30 brick!!!:rotfl:

    4 Day week,sounds great,3 day week,even better,retirement, dreamy!!!:)

    Well,ive only looked at the O/P calculator,twice today,it must be helping,admitting that i have a 'problem'!!!!:rotfl:

    Finally,another NSD,
