We have had our first Arran Pilots, and they are the best potatoes I have ever tasted - not that I'm biased or anything :rotfl:

I was asking a fellow allotmenteer what to plant next, and he says that I probably won't get any seed potatoes now, and just to plant some from the supermarket. He works for the local council parks and gardens dept and has been growing for years, so will take his advice despite some people saying not to do this.

I'd like to do this, this year.

How thick do the bags need to be? Thickish black bin bags , or thicker than bin bags? Will 'fertiliser' type sacks work, or do they need to be a dark colour?

    thanks
