Flight delay and cancellation compensation, KLM/AF ONLY

I would say you are correct in your assumption.
Air France are the travel experts in scheduling, not you. They shouldn't offer that connection if its so tight. Especially as the previous flight was delayed.
10 mins here, 15 mins there, all adds up.
The whole point of reg 261/2004 is to minimise disruption and inconvenience to the passenger, encouuraged by punative compensation to the affected passenger.
Air France made this worse by offering you a connection that was tight at the best of times.
Point out the preamble in the beggining of reg 261/2004. If AF haven't changed the way they operate in the past 14 years, that's their problem.
Very good points, thank you! I will be sure to mention them in my comments and we'll see how it goes.0 -

Hi brah.
Also mention that short departure delays and taxi times are often longer at busy airports such as BCN and CDG. That is 'inherent in the running of an airline' and is not an 'extraordinary circumstance' It's the norm and happens every day.
JP is right, AF offered you a short connection and you accepted, assuming that they would then be able to honour what was offered. If they offer connection times that are too short it is their responsibility.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
We were due to fly from Leeds to Denmark on 24 July 2019. The flight was cancelled due to refuelling issues at Schipol. Our compensation claim has been rejected as the cause was the refuelling company's not KLM.
Has anyone else been rejected or accepted? Is this a cause for them to reject the claim or should we take it further?0 -

The fuelling at Amsterdam is not operated by KLM, it affected all airlines and is not within the airlines control. You should have received duty of care during the delay0 -
Ok guys, I travelled from Dublin to Dalian (China) on the 19th june and due to a mixture of delayed flight and staff error I arrived at my final destination some 9 hours late.
I’ve had a 3 flights travel so bear with me with some of the information below.
A number of issues here, at the start the 1st leg was delayed by nearly 2 hours. When I learned this at Dublin airport the KLM staff in Dublin advised that there is a high possibility that I will not be able to make the original connecting flight in AMS. So they offered an alternative flight which is approx. 4 hour later than the original.
When I got to AMS and completed the 2nd leg from AMS -- CTU. Arrived in Chengdu (CTU) and tried to get boarding pass for my final flight. I was told by staff that KLM did not complete the rebooking correctly in Dublin. And I was not booked for this flight. So I spent quite sometime to explain and unfortunately missed the board time cut-off for this flight.
Eventually, KLM rebooked me on to a much later flight and I arrived at my final destination 9 hours later than planned.
Am I covered by the EC261 compensation?0 -
YES, fill in the compensation claim form on their site. Matters not who flew you from china KLM are responsible for the whole flight.0

I am just going through the process of completing my online form for KLM. There is a section that I can provide additional information about this incident.
I just wanted to check if I am going in the right direction. The 1st leg was delayed due to incoming flight delay which apparently caused by thunderstorm/bad weather. (at least this is what I was told at Dublin Airport). The airport will obviously quote Extraordinary Circumstance, and that's fine.
I think my focus should be that the KLM staff in Dublin mishandling my rebooking which resulted me unable to complete my 3rd leg journey. This seems to me falls under the category of something the airline could avoid and certainly within their control.
Am I right with the above?0 -
Basically if the late flight coming to pick you up was delayed at another Airport and not your Airport it will be a knock on effect and extraordinary circumstance defence is in my opinion is incorrect. Also what makes it worse for the Airline is the !!!! up with your re-booking with the 3rd leg of you journey. In the box put " if you reject this claim can you please send me a deadlock letter so I can refer this to arbitration".0

Thanks.
Can I just ask which online form do I use? There appear to be 2 online forms that you can use.
One looks like is specifically for EU Compensation . However, on this form there is no place to explain what the issue was and you can not attache anything as well. Did they make this online form like this so that people can not provide anything to strength their case? I guess does anyone know what happens after you fill-in this online form? Do they email you requesting further information? or do they make a decision based on the limited information you provide on this online form?
Then there is a second form which deals with all compensation requests. On this form, you can write to explain the issue and you can also attach documents as well. I would prefer to use this form but since this is a more general compensation request form I am unsure where I stand if I use this form.
Anyone know what form I should use?

I personally have not seen the forms but I assume 1 is for compensation and 1 for other claims like expenses. You would need to full in the compensation form for the first flight and then again for the and flight.0
