I know they do, and I want to keep pushing, but wanted to know what to do next. Will check that guide, thank you.
EDIT: Since they have refused and following the mentioned guide, I will send a final letter, which they will probably refuse to. I will then need to use and agency to take care of it and loose 30%. Oh well...0 -
Hopefully I have this right, it's my first post.
On Sunday night my partners friend was due to fly from Stuttgart to Gatwick with Easy-jet and return on Wednesday morning with Eurowings. This was booked through kiwi.com
Easyjet cancelled the flight at the last minute due to the french air-controller strike. She rebooked with easy-jet for Tuesday night, but obviously the return flight was useless, the cost of rescheduling it was more than a new flight so I kindly booked a new return flight (also through kiwi.com as they gave us a voucher for EUR50 ) for Saturday morning with Ryanair.
Last night EasyJet cancelled the flight again with 5 hours, this time due to bad weather at Gatwick (although another airline did fly stuttgard-gatwick departing an hour earlier).
She and her 8 year old son only had this week available to them, all the remaining Easy-jet flights are now sold out even if they did fancy trying for a 3rd time. Kiwi.com claim they protect you against cancelled flights, the small print actually says only when you have a connecting flight with a different airline, not a knock on issue with a return flight (so the guarantee is of no use to 99% of customers!)
Easyjet will refund their outgoing flight no doubt but we now have two sets of return flights we've paid for that can't be used. Is there any chance of getting any of that money back? If it was just the one I'd have sucked it up and said that's life but for both it seems like she's going to have to take a big hit on what was supposed to be a nice trip for and her and her son. She doesn't get to go away very often so it's obviously having a big impact on her and her son and we feel terrible. Weather and strikes seem to be situations that airlines won't cover so I assume that realistically everyone says sorry shrugs and we pocket the financial hit?0 -
Travel insurance?0

separate flights, separate contracts....had she booked with Easyjet direct for both directions they would have allowed both flights to be cancelled for refund.
Kiwi cobble together separate tickets and Eurowings and Ryanair have the money you paid and neither are likely to refund so travel insurance would be the way to go
note on TripAdvisor forums, Kiwi are one of the most complained about agents but in this case they don't appear to have done anything wrong0 -
Looks like bad news mdmetal, sorry. This is where it pays to have good insurance but even this may not pay out in this situation.
Usually best to book direct with airlines, it rare you will get a better price especially on short haul, with an agent.
By all means use the agent to find the flights but then book direct. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

This is pretty much what I was expecting, personally I always pay the extra to cover these eventualities, my partners friend didn't. It's annoying as usually the people who can afford these hiccups (i.e. me) are the ones who pay for the cover and the people with less money don't just to save the £10. Ultimately I don't mind so much about the 2nd return flights I paid for but for her she's lost a big chunk of money as well as a holiday with her son who she doesn't see much
Nothing to be done though seems to be the answer, I'll help her get the money back from easyjet and that's probably all we can hope for.0 -
Easyjet has agreed to pay me compensation, but has not yet done so.
this is the email I received originally

Dear .....,
We’ve reviewed your claim and are pleased to say that you are eligible for EU261 Compensation.
Your flight 8676 was delayed by 05:29:00 was due to N-E - Technical issues. This delay was within our control and is considered a non-extraordinary circumstance under EU law.
We’ll transfer GBP 218.95 to the bank account details you gave us. Please allow at least 7-14 days for this to arrive in your account.
Once again we’re sorry for the disruption to your flight and look forward to welcoming you on board again soon.
I emailed them again on 23/5/18 that I had not received the money. but have not heard back from them.
how should I proceed?0 -
Send a final email, including a copy of the payment promise, giving them 7 days to pay (since they are already a month late) or you will seek legal recovery of the debt they owe you, with immediate effect. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

On our return from Majorca, the incoming preceding flight to our flight was delayed taking off from the UK, and then did not land - with it being allocated to high winds (it was diverted to Ibiza, refulled, and then arrived). But this was the only flight at that time that claimed that high winds caused a diversion. Other flights immediately before and after it's arrival to Palma landed without difficulty. This was some time (2 years) ago and I did not pursue it because their claims system was rather hard work and they initially indicated the wind issue and it was just so much work to pursue whilst we were preparing for a wedding and a baby arrival, but I'd like to take it up again; if you think it might be valid. Happy to provide specific details but don't know where to go to show you them (like a flight records website or something?)
