I wrote and asked easyjet for my compensation on a flight delay to Amsterdam in 2010..just got a letter of apology and compensation of £200 approx. It took less than 4 weeks and I didn't even include copy of everything they asked for. Thanks to this fab site of information x
  • Hi
After booking a package holiday our flight was delayed for approx 8 hours back in 2009. I have emailed easyjet with our names, date of travel, airports and flight number to claim for compensation. They have emailed back to say they can't find details and that they need a booking reference or an email used to book, I don't have these details as I booked through a travel agent I'm a bit lost as to what if need to do next !! Help !!

Either ask the travel agent for the details, or put a data protection subject access request to them/easyJet for your details. And if you can prove you took the flight on the balance of probability, start a claim anyway.

    Hello all
I am bit stuck with my claim as flightstats holds no arrival data about my easy jet flight. I know the departure was delayed by 2 hrs and 55 minutes but there's nothing at all about the arrival time. Is there another site that holds this data? Does anyone know? I think we were delayed for slightly over three hours (looking at my phone record) but cant be sure. Please can you advise?

    thank you
    Jack

try one of the NWNF sites, they will let you enter flight and date etc (no name needed) and will give you a "yes you may have a claim" or a "no claim"
I would be very surprised if leaving under 3 hours later resulted in arriving over 3 hours late, usually when leaving late airlines will be able to make up some of the time en route

    Hi all

We were on this EasyJet flight 8720, which was due to leave Lisbon at 2020 on 7/7/14 but was delayed by nearly 4 hours. We did hear something said about the incoming flight being delayed by ATC due to thunderstorms in the Barcelona area, but other flights didn't seem to be delayed leaving Lisbon like ours was, although their incoming flights may not have come to Lisbon via the same route as ours! But in the 4 hours the incoming flight was delayed by, I couldn't help wondering why it couldn't have flown around the weather.

I emailed Easyjet to claim compensation for the delay and got the following email back today:-

Having looked into your booking I can see flight EZY8720 on 07/07/14 was delayed by 3:58 on arrival into Lisbon.

The reason for this delay as per our Report is ATC restrictions due to weather. Please be advised that when a flight is disrupted it will be classified under EC261/2004 as either extraordinary or non-extraordinary. As this was outside of easyJet reasonable control and could not be prevented it is classified as extraordinary.

Under EC 261/2004 if a flight is disrupted due to an extraordinary circumstance compensation is not payable.

Never been in this situation before (at least, not in any EU country and since the EU flight delay rules came into force) and so just wondered whether a) if anyone else on MSE and who was on this flight has tried to claim and, if so, how they fared and b) is Easyjet within its rights or is this ATC thing just an excuse to fob us off? It's interesting how they make no attempt to go into any detail.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

probably worth a good read of the Easyjet thread
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4384709

Flightstats show a number of delays at Lisbon that day (although yours does look the longest). Once you have read the FAQs and believe that delay was within Easyjet's control (eg not ATC) then have a read of the "taking the airlines to court" thread

If you have any further questions these should be on the Easyjet thread

I wrote to Easyjet to claim for a flight that was delayed on 24/6/14 to Malaga from Luton. I was told that they would not be giving me any compensation as the flight was delayed 179 minutes which was not over the 3 hours needed to get it.

Is there any come back on this? Who does the timing? Are the times rounded up or down and are the timing devices calibrated?

Seems very lucky that the delay was 1 minute within the limit plus they had the passengers on the pane all that time!

Bit disappointed they have offered nothing.

Flightstats also shows 179m delay so no claim.

I wrote 2 letters to easyJet Jan/Feb 2014 re 4 hour delay from Nice to Luton in Oct 2010. After still no reply I found an easyJet email address which I sent a copy of the letter to in March. Whilst I was waiting for a reply I wrote to the Direction G!n!rale de l'Aviation Civilein in Paris and waited 4 weeks before I sent them a follow up email. In April I received an email from easyJet explaining that it was a Technical Issue & beyond their control so they were unable to process the request for compensation. A week later I received an email from Air France to say they were dealing with my complaint. In June Air France contacted me to say that my complaint had been forwarded to easyJet for further investigations. In July easyJet emailed to say that I was entitled to 250 euros compensation per person.
What a result! It does show that with help from this website I was able to write my letters/emails and I would not have known that I was entitled to this compensation if I had not watched Martins programme on TV!!
    :)
