Try contacting 2bs citing Allen case and give them a figure you would be prepared to settle out of court for. Failing that you will have to request a hearing but I found 2bs quick to settle when I contacted them directly.

    Hallo Suebears and welcome

The good news is that you don't need any other passenger to contact you to complain about what I presume was a Jet2 flight. (If not don't worry just look for the right section in the forum).

If you were delayed 12 hours it is highly likely you are due compensation. Getting it is often, however, a different matter. The first thing you need is Vauban's invaluable guide:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5042802

and a vat of coffee whilst you work through it (wine afterwards only!). You will then kick off by writing to the airline requesting the appropriate amount of compensation (distance, no of passengers etc).

These days they sometimes actually settle, but if not you can issue a summons yourself via MoneyClaim Online (a Government Dept) or commission a nowinnofee lawyer.

    Good hunting!

  • Hi. thanks for reply. Yes i have written several letters been fobbed off with waiting to see outcomes of other cases and now been told the technical fault is not covered due to extraordinary circumstances. I dont have the ability to continue this "saga" so am considering contacting a claims company .e.g Bott!! And yes sorry it was Jet2. . I was just trying to see if anyone on my flight had had a different response. It was a vey long delay with false information being givento us. We were put in hotels for the night but this wasnt till after midnight and they knew we werent eer going to get that flight because it hadnt left Manchester to come for us in Lanzarote. Cheers!!!!
  • sounds like the usual procedure from Jet2. Bott will be likely to get you a result especially after Huzar and Allen. It's actually pretty educational and not that intimidating to do it yourself - it might be worth launching a case yourself via MCOL and seeing what happens when you shake the tree!

I think if you go on the Bott website and enter your details it gives you an indication of whether you have a (good) claim or not?
  • I have spoken to Bott and they have taken on my claim. Hoping for success. Will let you know!!! Sue

    Hi
I was delayed 18 hours last July with JET2 ( Tenerife to Leeds/Bradford). Had the usual responses from Jet2 so contacted the Spanish CAA. I have just received a reply stating the resaons for the delay given by JET2 are not considered "exceptional circumstances".
I am therefore looking to submitting a claim to the small claims court.
Can anybody advise me how I go about this - Is it just completeing a form on the internet and submitting it or is there more too it?
Can you make a claim at any court or does it have to be where in the area where you live? If you can use any court, which one do you suggest I use?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mozza73 xx:j

    1) Spanish EASA letter not really of any help
    2) Actual wording is extraordinary circumstances
    3) Read Vauban's guide re application
    4) Choose court which is best for you and inconveniences Jet2 the most.
