Although I have read the FAQ's I have a couple of queries I would welcome your advice on:

If I claim on my travel insurance for the delay will I jeopardise my claim against Thomsons?

Which template letter do you think is best for these circumstances?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Answers:

    1. No
    2. Standard delay template*

Edit *Unless the other plane left on time, with your flight number, in which case you were denied boarding (for which no EC defence exists)

It's not the departure time that's important, it's the actual arrival time at destination that defines the delay incurred.

Absolutely. Our flight took off 8 hours late but we were 19 hours late arriving because instead of flying us home from Gran Canaria they took us Tenerife instead for an overnight stay.

This makes me most sad as that means we were only delayed by 5hrs 30mins :( and not 6 hours were claiming for.

No difference - delay over 3 hours - compensation due - do not be sad be happy when they pay out.

I thought it was more for over 6 hours but i have just looked and its anything over 3 :) Just need an outcome of the Jet2 case now then i can go back to court to hopefully get paid. This does take up a lot of time and brain power but i hope its all going to be worth it in the end. Fingers crossed :)

hi, we were delayed from Gatwick 2 weeks ago for over 3hrs. iv filled in the relevant forms to send off but im after a bit of advice.

the flight was due to depart at 0640 and got a txt message at 0010 saying there will be a three hr delay. i later found out our original plane was sent to Nairobi after the bombings to bring the holidaymakers back. the plane we eventually flew on had just come back from the caribbien, so we were not waiting for the original plane to come back to the Uk.

what do you think the delay would be classed as?

  • Hi, i've submitted 2 letters to thomson complaining about a delay/cancellation when travelling in 2011 with a negative response from them on both occassions, i also sent the CAA these responses for them to investigate also and my most recent letter received from them they believe that i am entitled to compensation but thomson are stating that i am not entitled to anything even after the CAA informed them that i should be compensated. The CAA have now said that they have done all they can do and its for me to take it to court, can anyone advise what steps i should now take with thomson?, thanks

Post on correct Thomson thread but read FAQ's on page one of that thread first. Court action needed - either DIY or NWNF.
