Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Tui/Thomson ONLY

thanks again Vauban, I will start the ball rolling tomorrow and complete the 'make a court claim' form :-). Do you know whether I will have to pay the £70 upfront?0
-
Another question, approximately how long does it take for Thomson to pay up once it goes to court? thanks0
-
carina: unless you are exempt from the fees (eg if you are on social benefits) then you need to pay in full at each stage. On timelines, it all depends: I started my court action in January of last year and it's just coming to a head this week. It will also depend on how a particular appeal goes (Huzar): you can search for the background on the forum for a better understanding.0

oh dear, I hope I haven't left it too late because if I file the claim this week, it needs to be sorted by Sept this year (2014) as that is when it is the expiry time since my flight in 2008 :-(0

No - the clock stops once you initiate legal action. So that won't be a problem.
There's another important case being appealed that will affect yours too: the Dawson case (which is about whether the time to bring an action is 6 years or 2). But as you don't have a huge amount of time, I would start the court case, but recognise that it may take a year or even two to finish.0 -
Thanks. Although in my initial claim I asked for 1200 euros for 2 of us, how do I check that this is the correct amount or whether it is more or less?0

Great Circle is your friend (law) for calculating the distance and once you have established this (kms) refer back to 261/2004 and this will give you the per person amount of compensation due.0 -

Where did you get the original information to calculate that 600 euro per person was the correct amount? Which airport did you fly to? Antalya looks the most distant and that's c2,900km.0 -
Has anyone else submitted a claim yet to Thomsons with regard to the delay on 24 December 2013 from Gatwick North Terminal?0
