Had court date fixed for 13th December 2013 but TC used Huzar v Jet2 to get 3 month delay. Has anyone else got anywhere with TC regarding this flight ?

So reading that report, it is clear that the HP turbine blade failed near the end of its servicable life, so this CANNOT be classed as an EC as it is to be expected, given the 3 age/phase failure rate attributed to parts like this.
You would have thought given the other 3 episodes in the proceeding 6 months TC would have had the engine serviced/overhauled much earlier.
But then as we have all discovered how airlines run their aircraft, perhaps it comes as no surprise....

Total criminal neglegence if this has not been followed. This sort of issue has been known about.

Except that is problems with the low pressure compressor blades, not the HP turbine ones. The LP compressor blades are the first ones at the front of the engine - the ones you see spinning, the HP turbine blades are the first ones after the fuel is burnt (hence the sulphidation problem) that power the HP compressor, third in from front. I would imagine that a LP compressor blade that let go at full throttle would pretty much trash an engine as they are pretty large!

E-mailed them with standard letter on 11/11 and got case reference, then wrote to them recorded delivery, prompted them with further e-mail 14 days later, no response.

How long is the standard wait for the fob-off letter?

Well good news, TC paying up, discount voucher for £684, e-mailed to me today, don't know whether to insist on cash?

Unless there is a very good reason (like you were just about to book a TC holiday and you got more in vouchers than your claim in cash), I'd have the cash.

I'd take one of those special vouchers that you can spend anywhere. You know, the ones signed by the Chief Cashier of the Bank of England?

Time for a NBA letter (see FAQ's) 14 days notice and then court action I'm afraid Mandy.
DO NOT send them any originals of the flight tickets with the morning flight clearly stated on. Vital evidence.
