AFAIA, I can only find one poster so far - and i've lost where that was from  - that has even had an extraordinary circumstances denial of claim. (Apart from LDB)
Monarch so far appear to be not replying except to confirm receiving of the claim forms. Their Facebook page is awash with posters asking the same questions.
In my case, they have had completed claim forms with all supporting documents, by recorded delivery, for 10 weeks now.
I sent a LBA this week.

Known flights that Monarch have agreed compensation on:
ZB227 PMI - LGW 07/10/12 Payment received
ZB3566 LUTON - FIUMICINO 07/10/12 Payment received
Flights denied for EC's

Hi I have also a gripe against Monarch Airline I flew from Menorca to Gatwick on the 27th October, instead of the plane leaving at 21.45 it was 1.30 in the morning arriving at Gatwick at three in the morning. In the time we waiting at Mahon airport we were told that we were not entitled to food or refreshments and there was not rep from Monarch to be found at the airport. On my return home I looked up FLIGHTSTATS to find that this flight had been delayed since May all the way through to October. I contacted Monarch on my return and wrote to Iain Rawlinson who is the Chairman of Monarch. I was asked to send my original boarding card in, which I did on Nov 2nd and not a word since. I will now take this up with the C.A.A and the EU Commission. I'm fed up with these airlines treating us like cattle. How can they sell a flight that they know they cannot fulfill.

Cathy, there's a FAQ's sticky which is worth a read.
Probably this post:

The CAA will not assist as flight was from Spain. You need to write to AESA in Madrid. In any event the likely response from Monarch Airlines is that EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES caused your delay. In a nutshell you will probably need to take them to Court. Look at the FAQ's and go from there. If you want to couple this with 'having a go' at Monarch their Facebook page seems to be popular!0 -
really fed up with waiting for Monarch to respond to my letters. I know they have been received as they were all sent Recorded Delivery
I was delayed on the 27th October as the flight was supposed to leave Mahon to Gatwick at 21.45 instead it was 1.30 and in that time we were told that we were not entitled to food or drink. We eventually arrived at Gatwick at 3.am
I wrote to Iain Rawlinson who is the Chairman who made all the right noises e.g. send in your original boarding cards which I did (I do have copies) and that was end of October 2012. I wrote again in November as I discovered via FLIGHTSTATS that this flight had been delayed constantly since May right through to October. How can the airline sell tickets for a flight that they don't have enough aircraft to cover.
My son, daughter in law and baby were on the same flights so you can imagine that delay with a baby. On the return flight to Mahon from Luton the delay they encountered was seven hours. That amounts to some serious compensation.
I will now contact C.A.A. and the E.U. as I'm fed up with being treated like cattle by these airlines.

Hi I did write at report via the complaints procedure at Mahon airport which was being sent to Madrid. When I asked the ground staff at Mahon airport for the complaints book, the reply was "We do not have a complaints book" It was only when I persisted that one was actually found.
I thought the C.A.A would be able to help as my journey started from Gatwick, the journey from Mahon was the return. I though as long it was E.U to E.U.0 -
There was no extraordinary delay. This flight has been delayed from May to October it was a regular occurance. Mr Iain Rawlinson (CHAIRMAN) replied by saying they were in the process of purchasing extra fleet of aircraft. With all due respect I dont give a #### I want compensation.0

A month later they sent me some pretty infantile forms which they did not need because, being a sensible bloke I think, I gave them all the relevant data in my original letter. Then of course total silence from Monarch despite a reminder a month ago. But if they think I am giving up I am not. The joke is I only wanted a 'few quid' to compensate me for the meals and drinks my wife and I had to pay for during those highly forgettable 7 hours (the Monarch voucher was for a flight-side restaurant that did not actually exist (!) and, of course there was nobody assisting passengers from Monarch). Now I know I can get some pretty high compensation I intend to write to the Company Secretary informing him that without prompt settlement now I will take Monarch to the County Court for the EU values published.
You need to contact Mr Iain Rawlison Chairman of Monarch0 -

I'm in the same position: Monarch has had my claim forms since the beginning of November, but I've had nowt but a terse acknowledgement.
Perhaps the fact that no one (or almost no one) has had a substantive reply yet means Monarch are deliberating about whether to pay up, and they're just need a little more encouragement to take the plunge? Or is it that they are a bunch of shysters, trying to evade their legal responsibilities and treating their customers with contempt. Answers on a postcard ...
