I Have finally had an email from Monarch confirming that compensation for our delayed flight from Palma to Manchester last September has been approved and a cheque is on its way. So thanks to MSE and perseverance on my part we have a positive outcome. Will be glad to finally ditch copies of tickets, emails, phone conversations and put it to bed!
Whsat flight was this? Our flight was delayed as a knock . The A330 needed a wheel change at Palma on 20th Sept 2014Check out Vaubans Flight Delay Guide, you will be glad you did....:):)
Thomas Cook Claim - Settled Monarch Claim - Settled0 -
Got my email today confirming we are getting compensation for a 9 hour delay from Gatwick to Barcelona on June 22nd 2013. They had previously argued that the 9 hour/2 plane delay was down to TWO exceptional circumstances! :T0

Please update front page to include this success. It was a little while back but Monarch paid my claim for 4 passengers in full.0

Hi ,well done to all on successful claims from Monarch . Please can I ask did you fill out forms from Monarch or did you just email them to claim . Thank you . Geoff0

did you fill out forms from Monarch or did you just email them to claim.Geoff
Hi Geoff. What most of us have done is write an email to them giving all the details and asking for their timely reply. Monarch would then typically send out a form, which we filled in and sent back. We gave them a "reasonable time" to reply, say 2-3 weeks. If they didn't reply, or if they rejected our claim, we then sent a "notice before action" giving them two weeks to give us a satisfactory reply. At the end of two weeks, we started court proceedings. It's important to start the court proceedings within 6 years of the date of the delay.0 -
Hi, for my delay last year BA are citing 'airfield restrictions' as their extraordinary circumstance.
I was taking BA 1407 from Manchester which I was told was waiting for BA1402 to arrive. BA 1402 was late so naturally we were late taking off... My delay occurred because I was flying to Sydney so this delay meant We missed all our connections and stayed overnight at Heathrow.
What are your thoughts as you seem experienced in the EU compensation world? I feel I am being fobbed off big time and that I am entitled to compensation. I know this is anecdotal but worth mentioning. A man on our flight told us to apply for EU comp. he had taken the same flight twice that year and claimed successfully both times, he said it is notoriously late and that he would be claiming again.
So frustrating, 6 of us in the family... At €600 each they obviously will try to wriggle out. I hate corporations!0 -

Were you through booked to Oz on the same ticket with BA?
If you were, I think you have a good claim so follow the advice in Vaubans guide and start the process. If you have not sent one yet send them an NBA/LBA to show them you mean business.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Finally success! Flight MON 6073 Grenoble to Gatwick 23rd February 2013 - delay of over 6 hours. I claimed immediately and was told no technical fault, claimed again in August 2013 as the fault wasn't our plane but one earlier in the day and was again told no. Finally with the Supreme Court ruling in October I claimed again in November last year. They just ignored me this time so in the end I rang, spoke to an advisor who immediately approved the claim and they paid in full - a thousand euros! I will say that they have improved their complaints system since I first tried as the information is now easily available on the website whereas originally the only contact was via a huge detailed form that had to be sent by post.0

Good result, I'm surprised you personally went down the NWNF route, you know the regs better than me!
Pleased you got Monarch to pay though, they're not one of the quickest payers.
Cheers,
