Further to our previous correspondence, we are writing to update you regarding the status of your claim.
Following the Huzar-v-Jet2.com case we have been settling a significant number of claims each week, however due to the high volume of claims received, we are sorry to advise you that we are not yet in a position to finalise your claim. We appreciate that this is taking longer than we had anticipated and please accept our assurance that we are doing all we can to conclude your claim as soon as possible.
We kindly ask that customers refrain from emailing or telephoning the EU Claim Team to chase the outcome of their claim as this is impacting on our ability to effectively review all claims in the timely manner desired. Please be aware that the EU Claim Team cannot prioritise claims which are chased via telephone or email.
This is a further acknowledgement and should be treated as such. We would again like to make any customers aware who may consider issuing legal proceedings for reasons other than their claim becoming time barred under the Limitation Act, that if proceedings are issued we will have no hesitation in bringing this correspondence to the attention of a Judge as it reflects our efforts to communicate with customers proactively whilst working through the high volume of claims requiring action. If proceedings are issued following this acknowledgement, but prior to our full response being provided to you, please be aware that by reason of our commitment to communicate with you we will seek to recoup our legal costs which we will incur from defending such claims.
In the event that we have not yet reached a decision on your claim and we are approaching a further 6 weeks from the date of this letter, we will send you a further update.
Thank you again for your continued patience.
Yours sincerely,
Monarch Airlines Limited

Hi we travelled from Majorca to Birmingham back in September. The problem started when months after booking our holiday Monarch changed the time of the flight by almost two hours. As we live offshore our connecting flight which was already booked now became much closer to our scheduled landing time. Predictably on the day the flight was delayed by an hour and forty minutes and we missed our flight. This left us stranded at the airport and cost us a fortune to change our flights to the next day and stay in a hotel. Monarch's support team told us we would be reimbursed but as you would expect we have been told that they have no obligation to do so. Our holiday insurance States that it only pays for missed flights on the outward bound journey. We left ourselves over three hours between flights which for a short domestic flight is ample. Thanks to Monarch we ended up spending an additional £400.
Does anyone know if it would be worth continuing in this case as we reached our final destination 24 hours late. Albeit that was with a different carrier but caused by Monarch.0 -

If you mean can you claim compensation under EC261/2004, then the answer is NO I'm afraid.. TBH, I can't really see much blame on Monarch here, sure they did change your flight time, but airlines do this all the time by a couple of hours and they did give you notice and that's all that they are required to do.
Technically YOU missed your flights and the only way to claim is by having excellent holiday insurance.
Sorry,

Thanks. Feared that might be the case. Will always book connecting flight a day later in future to avoid this. Didn't expect a change of flight and then a delay Which ended up causing real problems. £400 out of pocket, missing work etc. you live and learn. The joys of living offshore I suppose.0

for me it's better :money:0

It's really interesting though when you start to think of all the various senarios say you booked a flight to Australia from the UK and the airline split your flights for you with a change of flight, the first leg of the flight is delayed by two hours and you miss your connecting flight with the same airline, now the answer to that little conundrum is far harder to answer.... Sorry we'll put the worms back in the can..After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!
